My first computer "terminal" was an O29 card punch.

Anybody remember counter/sorter machines?

Cholula used hieroglyphics in school. Carnarsie's posts are just Greek... a much younger language.

I used to submit thousands (literally) of cards to run SPSS jobs. Had loads of fun one day when another grad ...'t threw a temper tantrum & pitched a couple boxes across the room.

Thanks for the scoop. I just signed up. Might be my last chance.

You must be young.

OK, so I never even wrote CARDS statements, but I had a HS teacher that had a closet full of old cards (no idea why). We used them as compact answer sheets for math quizzes. And, they were great to make flash-cards when studying for a test.

He claims to be a graphic designer (when not starring in movies), so I suppose that could include designing a translation of hieroglyphics.

Canarsie wanted to set me up with Rosetta Stone but I preferred her cousin, Sharon.

I was kidding. Besides, if you were thinking of job security in the '90s, you can't be that young. I think there are some FTers who were born in the 90s.

Rosetta Sharon?

No idea who she is.

In college I took a class on an ancient programming language, called COBOL, they told us that there were millions of lines that would need to be converted to Y2K standards

That's Ariel Sharon's spinster older sister. A great match for Dov.

And all this time, I thought Canarsie was our lyricist! It's nice to know there are so many talented Lounge Lizards.
