I haven't paid for a concert in more than three years now - won my Petty tickets from the radio station and the country music concerts (Lonestar, Lee Greenwood) are free festivals in my city.
I was trying to get tickets for a concert in LAS in a few weeks; Jay-Z is the only thing of interest.

Might be different, now that they've remodeled the place?

DCA is a lot nicer now (at least in the US Airways terminal - a rather nice facility). Only real downside to DCA in my mind is lack of flights beyond the perimeter - the AS flight to LAX and the DL flight to SLC are the SkyTeam options, unless you want to take US to PHX/LAS or Frontier/United to DEN.
IAD is a bit dumpy (Concourse B is nice, but the main terminal is bleh, and well, Concourses C and D were built as temporary concourses - 30 years ago, and Concourse A reminds of such esteemed facilities as CVG Concourse C, SLC Concourse E and the DEN RJ terminal). Plus, mass transit is lacking (until if/when they get the Metro built there).
BWI is a decent enough facility - nothing to rave about, but not horrible. Good mass transit - plenty of MARC trains to Union Station, plus Light Rail to Baltimore. Rental car situation is a dreaded off-site place (took a while to get there...). Just a bit further away than IAD.

The new terminal at DCA is phenomenal and airfare is often pricey - NW is (as of my last flight to the airport) in the ancient terminal with corridors that look like a bomb shelter while DL is in beautiful new terminal. IAD is still essentially in France, as is BWI. IAD is a dump but has essentially all of the non-Caribbean/non-Canada international flights; some economy parking is in another county. BWI's consolidated rental car terminal is in another city but the airport almost always provides the lowest cost for domestic airfare. Really is a "what do you value" scenario.

Don't forget AS to SEA (unless canceled recently). And I still marvel at HP's ability to snag that many slots at DCA - I flew them quite often earlier this decade.

And yeah, HP/US was able to get a good number of slots at DCA. Then again, I can't be surprised with John McCain being a big backer of opening up a limited number of beyond-perimeter slots I'm sure that helped HP win some of those rights.
I also remember way back in the day, TWA had a daily 757 on DCA-LAX. When AA bought them out, AA had to relinquish the beyond flight (I'm sure they would have loved to have kept DCA-LAX if given the opportunity) and AS applied for it and got it.

At one time I was flying them once a month - to the average observer, multiple flights to PHX, multiple flights to LAS, one to SEA, one to LAX, none to SFO/PDX/SLC might look suspicious.

The great flight from LAX/DCA is on Alaska. Love that flight and is a pretty easy upgrade.

BWI isn't hard to get into downtown Washington via MARC - plenty of trains (and it's cheap) to get into Union Square. Sure, BWI is a bit closer to Baltimore, but it's not unreasonable to fly into BWI. Plus, it's not that much further than IAD.
IAD gets a good bit of business - international and outside the 1250 mile perimeter means IAD. DCA is great if you're staying within said perimeter, don't mind connecting, etc., but IAD is used farely regularly. Many people will drive out to IAD and take a nonstop to the west coast or Europe rather than take a connecting flight to get to their destination.
By the way, Ticketmaster is evil. I got a $33 ticket to Springsteen today for Show 4 at Giants Stadium today - well, it was $33 before the following:
Total Convenience Charge(s) US $7.40 x 1
Total Building Facility Charge(s) US $3.00 x 1
Order Processing Charge US $4.05
TicketFast® US $2.50
TOTAL CHARGES US $49.95
Gotta love those 50% or so markup from TicketSlave.
