Work - I only miss a few hours by going on the holiday weekend (and I generally leave town for my birthday anyway). So many choices now:
* Park Hyatt Zurich with Hyatt points
* Random Zurich Airport Hilton with Hilton points
* Random Choice Hotel with Choice points (the points actually have value in Europe)
Can you guess where I'm leaning?

What is important is that you chose a Ramada with a safe in the room.

I'm looking at the Sheraton, which will be just re-opened in September after a two month renovation. I'm a fan of the cash and points deals Starwood offers. 4k points and $90.

So, I just got back home after the DL MSP dinner (and the Best Buy happy hour until 1 a.m. in downtown Mpls).
That being said, I had a very nice chat with Josh Weiss (DeltaWebGuy) tonight at dinner.
He said he'd be interested in a collegiale debate with MikeMpls at the ATL DO in a few weeks - you've been forewarned Mike.

And if I'm disappeared sometime between 3 & 7 p.m. on the 25th ...
It's looking like there will be several NW'ers there. Honestly, there's still no reason for me to return to the fold. WN+CO is working out very well. I've booked DL/NW only to ATL & as CO codeshares when there was no alternative (e.g. ex-DLH).
These dirt cheap fares to Europe starting in Aug. would have been sooooooo tempting in previous years, but I just don't want to build up another large accumulation of DL/NW miles. It's taking 1.5 years to burn the last oversupply, and it's not as easy to get your money's worth now. And after doing 4 3-4 day MR's to Europe this spring, we're kind of burned out ...
Is DL truly that desperate, or is the whole industry sunk? CO had a lot of great ~$400 European fares into early June, but these were the result mostly of constantly tweaking their inventory to sell out the planes; they'd be there one day, gone the next & back again in a week. Not sure if it all paid off for CO -- their RASM took a dive in May. DL/NW are practically selling the bottom out of the market stating mid-August.

The whole industry is sunk. IATA says that collectively, the airlines will lose $9bn in '09. Mike, to survive they need you to do your patriotic duty, open up your pockets, and start buying full fare F tix.

I guess I am curious about good vs. bad seats...assuming there are any of the latter. It seems to be a pretty small venue. The picture that they have on their website looks great. I am also curious about temperature in September as it appears to be right up against the bay.

Cleared another upgrade on a 752 as an FO, yet have to face the battlefield on Friday's E75 flight.

I'm actually planning on being on my best behavior during the Q&A & reception. Bring the video cameras to the Hilton later. Is this a French cousin occasion?

You are aware that I have SkyMiles running out of my....well, let's say ears?
There was a show on HDNet not that long ago that showed Christopher Cross still preforming. So, I thought I might like to see him. He is in SAN with Air Supply, which isn't my favorite but they have a few songs that are OK.

Here's a hint for future ticket purchases - look at the seast map and there's almost always a section blocked off for the front-of-house tech area. Screw being up front. Sit as close the the people who are running the show as you can, as especially in audioland, the guy who's mixing always has the best sound near him (as you might imagine.) Also, you don't get the full lighting effect when you're up so close. The lighting show is almost always designed around the front-of-house area.
