747-400D: All-coach domestic version, carrying 568 passengers. Entered service with Japan Airlines in 1991
That is the fakest plane I've ever seen, had no idea there was a 568 single class plane. Interesting.

It will only hold 500 people ATL-NRT, since most of the pax on that route are Americans. However, it can hold 580 NRT-ATL, since most of the pax are Japanese.

When my brother was flying 10 seat Beechcraft islanders out of Pago Pago for South Pacific Island Airways he often had to limit it to 7 pax, since well-to-do Samoans can be people of significant size. Same thing with ATL-NRT vs NRT-ATL.

Exactly. All Japanese pax. 16 professional Sumo wrestlers in F, 552 normals in Y.
No need to be racist here. To say that it takes more fuel on ATL-NRT than NRT-ATL takes offense to me if you're saying Americans are heavier than Japanese tourists. I'm sure they'd take offense too if you were calling them skinny, or if you were making fun of Japanese sumo wrestlers.

The japanese sumo team was coming to ATL for some sort of tour well unfortunately the pilots didn't calculate the extra weight for 200 sumo wrestlers (they were all in Y) and they had to divert to ANC, SEA & MCI to pickup extra fuel just to make it to ATL!
Again, no need to be racist/discriminatory/make fun of them...But I would think one stop in ANC or SEA would do it if it was necessary.

WOW you are right, I forgot about that! they are installing the new standing up seats, right? I know the announced capacity of 831 was increased to what, 1,100 with all of the standup seats. The only picture of the new design I could find was the difference between WN "elite" seats & the current coach & stand up seats:

Not so fast. They're not sure the patented alphazone boarding system can handle that many. With 15 set aside for business fares (new benefit on the A380 will be an ejection seat activated at landing so you can get the xxxx out of there ahead of the crowd), that only leaves boarding positions for 1,545 people.

Of course they could revert to an older Texas method: Stampede!

That's because if was the press-release mockup, I can't seem to find the real pictures but I promise it's flying.

it's not racism... it's the truth. If you've ever been to Japan you would understand that they are of a more dimmunitive stature, when fully grown than an american. Now that we've got more and more fast food restaurants it's worse.

Americans:
Meanwhile, the average weight for men aged 20-74.... 191 pounds in 2002, while the average weight for women...164.3 pounds in 2002.

Japanese:
The Average Weight of in 2002 Japanese Men 61.9kg (136 lbs) / Japanese Women 53.3kg (117 lbs)

If anything, my remarks could be construed as disparaging to Americans, not to Japanese. And, last I looked, "Americans" were not a "race", so how could you consider it "racist"????

Also, as WBurcham points out, the fuel loads and flight ranges are based on pure scientific data. That's why they always have to book less pax ATL-NRT than NRT-ATL.

ATL-NRT will also involve more headwinds than NRT-ATL in addition to the oversupply of fat Americans.

I take offense to that, I don't consider myself overweight. Do you?

My co-worker just took this picture of me at lunch:

Interesting, I thought DL was planning to make some orders for some new Airbus A390 equipment with 20" flat screen PTV's in a 2-2-2-2 configuration (3 aisles), for a total of 3,000 seats, enough to carry 2x the size of my high school and staff. I heard this plane was going to be doing the BOS-PBI runs and maybe starting some new routes BOS-HNL and BOS-NRT.

Well if you ran an airline, that would be a reality. What was the name of your carrier?

Funny because I looked at your pictures from the ATL DO and you were not African American.

Man that cheeseburger was huge. It would take me a week to finish it.

I'm sorry sir, but you're only allowed to board with one hamburger and one personal item. And we'll have to test that burger in the sizer.

You got it wrong. WBurcham isn't not the person doing the eating- he is the hamburger.
