I found a last-minute Delta Air Lines Weekly Web Fare special to Indianapolis, as the fares to Chicago became gradually more expensive.

I still saved money even though I rented a car from National Car Rental, which allowed me to yet again qualify for the Executive level for next year as an Emerald Club member.

How FlyerTalk-ish can I get?!?

So essentially you were taking a mileage run with National Car Rental? I understand MR's with airline programs, but this is the first time I've heard of one with a car rental program.

Canarsie, you're strange even by FT standards.

Ironically, it's a long story...but I ended up at ONT on Sunday.

ATL works better as a hub than does CVG. The only way I can get to CVG is by flying out of SNA and that’s not a good choice for me.
What type of aircraft on the LAX/IND non-stop?? ( remember...I’m too lazy tonight to look this stuff up )

Well I'm not a BAG but I am old... especially since last week.

Well, yes, but we will see how long NW hangs around IND. They primarily were focusing on eating away ATA's market share and ATA had their last flight to IND last night.

What do I look like your freaking personal travel agent?

It's a A319.

DL doesn’t fly Airbus aircraft so it must be a codeshare.
I’ll stick with ONT/ATL/IND on DL mainline.

No — the car rental was simply an added bonus where, including the cost of the car rental, the total cost was still less expensive than a round-trip airfare between Atlanta and Chicago at the time.

The fuel for the car trip was charged to a credit card where I received a 5% rebate on gasoline purchases.

The main idea was to take advantage of a low-priced last-minute Weekly Web Fare Special from Delta Air Lines, which are good from Saturday until Monday or Tuesday.

As far as me being strange — well, that is another story altogether...

I thought that you of all people would be looking forward to a merger — in more ways than one.

Think of the expanded possibilities of merging with the Northwest Airlines FlyerTalk members! Perhaps the Northwest forum has their own version of firephoenix just waiting for you!

By the way, I already have an idea for a logo for the combined Delta Air Lines/Northwest Airlines merger, if it actually happens:

Simply replace the red triangle in the Northwest Airlines logo with an upside-down version of the Delta Air Lines “widget”!

Cholula, is this you about whom Randy Petersen is discussing?

Dovster, don’t get any ideas!

I have a question for you Marriott buffs, because I'm lazy just like Cholula....

I'm DRIVING to Florida on Saturday after I fly back from CA on Friday and I've booked a room at a Residence Inn near Charlotte NC and another one in Jacksonville. My future son-in-law decided to drive down with us to help out with the heavy lifting when we get there and now I'm not sure that a Studio will be big enough for all of us. How does one go about getting an upgrade at a Marriott? I don't have to worry about it on the return trip. My daughters will be driving alone and I'll be sending my son-in-law back via Delta from Jacksonville on Tuesday because he has classes on Tuesday. Also, will I get the miles for booking him on the return flight? I was going to use my miles for his ticket, but since he decided to join us at the last minute, Delta would charge $50 for the award and I reallllllly hate to part with 50,000 miles for a one way trip that would cost less than $200 anyway.

It's a NW flight....so it would only work if are redeeming miles for the trip and you can get FC since I know you aren't going in the back of the bus.

I’m not buying many tickets any longer so it would DEFINITELY be a FC award.
I got 4798 MQM’s on my trip back from Maine on 1/2/06 and that’ll be where I end the year MQM-wise.
I may check out the direct flight depending on the return time.

Looks like NW 205 leaves IND at 7:40 AM and arrives in Los Angeles at 9:18 AM

The outbound is NW 206. It leaves LAX at 10:20 AM and arrives in Indianapolis at 5:19 PM.

Make your check payable to the "Indufan Retirement Account".

The outbound flight is great. The return flight might be a tad bit early considering we’d planned to be staying in Lafayette the night before. May have to head back down and stay at the airport that night if we go this route.
Thanks....

Headed to airport so have to make this fast, but just wanted to say what an AWESOME time I had last night meeting my newest FT friends!!!!! Great food, great company and we even got to break in some virgin, closet mile whores (who will hopefully be posting on FT soon). Only took us 20 minutes to have the shared table (it was the grill seating at a japanese restaurant) educated on the benefits of elite status and mile runs *smile*.

And since anything fun is worth doing twice we have tenatively scheduled an MSP "re-do" Jan 23 or 24th when I am here again (as the others live here). If anyone will be in MSP or would like to do an MR you are more than welcome to join us!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again to my new friends for making being stuck here yet again a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to NYC......well actually off to MSP to sit and wait for a plane (OMG a crj msp-jfk, what are they thinking at NW). Tonight will be diamond upgraded at the Waldorf Astoria *smile* life is good!!!
