And, if you don't want to spend a whole bunch on the Westin, you could do what a friend of mine did a few weeks ago--he missed his connection in DTW, rebooked on the first flight of the morning--so, he went on to priceline and did the "name your own price," and was able to score the Westin at $30
) and the GA just called six people for either seat assignments or clearing standby ...And of course, the flight is delayed due to inbound FAs.

and I always thought the FAs wanted to be done with the flight as soon as the last passenger deplanes...

You should see the situation at LIS, if there is a cancellation for a flight that was supposed to be at a gate that empties right into the main corridor between T2 and T1

It's almost time to hit the airport for me, GVA-AMS-JFK-ATL ... AMS-JFK was supposed to be on KLM, but the joint venture between AF/KL-DL decided that they needed my 777 elsewhere, so instead, I find myself on DL8805 operated by an A330-300.
It's BE, but I will miss my little house full of Jenever!
