On both of my last trips to Europe, I was lucky enough to get some ash. In 2005/2006, I got ash in Finland and on my trip last year, German ash. I didn't even know there were volcanos in Germany.

So it is time to buy Little UP a car....

We have a two car garage, Mrs. UP automatically gets a spot, so guess who is parking his truck outside?

The Defender would spend more time at the mechanic's garage than UP's.

...it looked so out-of-place on the flatbed when it was taken off of the Maine Turnpike. However, once it's fixed, it could run through a mine field...

I'm actually a fan of the Defender, a vehicle that can handle everything and holds its value.

I have a friend who restores those. His restorations are magnificent; way better than the machine was when it first left the factory. Of course his prices are also magnificent.

Agreed. It is well worth it to have one--especially in Northern Maine

I have to say that it works wonders in the winter as Maine + January = possible unpleasantness

How is parking the truck outside a new development?

Glad the truck's repairable; I'm still considering what to get for my back-up vehicle ...

Good morning, boys and girls, from the New Zealand Air lounge at SYD. Hope everyone is behaving him/herself ... or not. I guess that doesn't really matter around here.

Oh, it is repairable--the mechanic told me earlier today that he has to fabricate some of the parts himself

However, I must have upset the upgrade gods--no upgrade as of yet (3 days out), with plenty of seats in F up for grabs...
