Also, finally my 25k MQM bonus miles posted, which put me over the top for the illustrious DYKWIA (a/k/a Diamond) level. And I even called DL to confirm this, to which they did. Hopefully after this sojourn to HRE, I should be able to clear the threshold award. What should I select as an award?
For last-minute bookings, ATL South tends to get really cheap - I'm flexible enough to switch around reservations to save another $10 a night a few days before a trip.

The MQM boost for my DL AmEx after making several large purchases with the card earlier in the year--including, but not limited to, paying my property taxes in full.
Right now, I'm sitting in front of Gate 16 at PVD, using my BB as a tether waiting for the GA to start boarding DL3385 to DTW. Flight was supposed to leave at 12:32. At least my BP for the IAD-CDG (flights were adjusted to PVD-DTW-IAD-CDG-NBO-HRE) shows 1A : La Premiere. So, I wonder if DL will create a service higher than SP for those who are connecting to a First (when on a 3 class flight)--as AF has a dedicated La Premiere staff to handle connecting passengers (escorted through Passport Control and Customs).

DO travel plans
I was exploring on delta.dumb and able to find good (for MSP) sale fares for outbound connections (typically on RJs) through MKE or MDW (I suspect my preferred DTW isn't a valid routing and ORD connections yield smaller discounts), but my attempts to force the connection only on the return just raised the prices over the nonstop H or so fares that are currently offered. I could call, but I'm not ready to purchase yet. I hope I don't later regret waiting to buy my ticket, but these flights look wide open now and I can't imagine that all of them will fill with business travelers soon.

It could be 10,000 MQM from one card and 15,000 MQM from another, or one of these combined with a signup/upgrade bonus offer. The best new card offer I recall was 20,000 MQM and 40,000 bonus miles last summer for a Reserve card if one never previously had a Delta AmEx, although I think there may have been some rare better ones targeted to DL FFs just before the merger, roughly in spring of 2009.

Also, greetings from DTW where I have a little over an hour to wait before boarding DL6148 to IAD. Then off on AF27... Flight was excellent for a CR9 service--even served 4 glasses of Woodford, after persuading the FA to tap into the reserve stock--the flight was going to be continuing on to YUL I think.

I just made a change to my itinerary for the Delta Do:
I will be landing in ATL on Oct 19, flying to LAS on Oct 25, and flying back LAS-TLV (connecting in ATL) on Nov 1. All of this is Biz Elite and FC and is costing me 175,000 SkyMiles + $47.99 in taxes. (Low fare TLV-LAS and medium LAS-TLV.)
It means passing up becoming Gold Medallion for next year, and staying at Silver, but as it is saving me over $4000 it seems well worth it.
Of course, I could save a lot more by not going to any casinos in LAS but there seems very little point in making the trip if I do.
(I am NOT the "Let's go visit Hoover Dam" type of person.)
