Good morning to the Lounge.
Looking forward to getting home a bit early today, and hooking up a new Blu-Ray player for my home theatre. I have an ancient Sony BDP-S100 player which mostly plays just fine, but can take up to two minutes to load a disc. So I finally threw in the towel and bought an Oppo.
The Oppo DVD player was the darling of the DVD fanatics, as it would literally play just about anything. VCDs, NTSC, PAL, region locked discs.
The Oppo Blu-Ray isn't quite so versatile, but it is a fast, well-regarded player and it has multi-channel analog outputs. That's nice to have, as basically it will convert any of the multitude of high-def sound formats to 7 (or 5 in my case) channel output for my older (non-HDMI) receiver. I could replace the receiver, but that's money and I honestly detest having to hook up receivers. I have a multitude of components (including HD-DVD and LD players ) so there's a lot of cables to hook up including the five speakers and subwoofer.
Plus I scored a lot of new discs from Movie Gallery and Hollywood Video liquidation sales in the past couple of weeks.
I know that physical media is considered old-school, but if you want a consistently high-qualify high-def source then Blu-Ray is pretty much it. Everything else (cable, satellite, on-demand, Internet) is smoothed and compressed to significantly lower bit-rates.

Nope, as mentioned here.
Orange line trains def. gotta go. Some of the newer red line trains (~10years old) are still in good shape. There's a mix of much older red line trains still running regularly. I get to see some Cholula old red line relics sitting at the Southampton yard, right near South Station. They don't look like a comfortable ride at all.
Rode the new blue train a month or so ago for the first time. Nice trains and the refurb'd stations are really nice. If only the whole system could be as such - but remember how broke they are - and about to spend mega bucks on a green line extension. They have to by law through an agreement with the Big Dig, but have no way to pay for it!!

Just read a really interesting article about Kate Hanni, the whacko running "FlyerRights.org" calling into question her ethics & the methodology behind her movement for passenger rights.

Bank of America still hasn't managed to remove the "International Transaction Fee" for using a Citibank ATM in Washington, D.C.

True, but I can also remove my assets from BoA quite easily to another bank / credit union. As a faculty member summer vacation starts in 24 hours (done one course, last 2.5 weeks of another).

My last (NW) DC9 flight was IND-FLL, IIRC.
Always thought the first cabin was 'decent' on those birds, and many had interiors refurbished 'rather recently.'
It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!

Did have several MSP-MKEs last year on the -9s though. Every F/A I've talked to loves working the -9s.
