Been spending much of the evening planning MRs out of BNA starting in a tad over a week. Wanting to do two trips back to back.

Looks like BNA-MFR will be up first. Airfare will run $480, but I have a $150 voucher and it gives me 3 full days in a place I've never been. Rental car and hotels won't be too bad, and I can visit Crater Lake and the Oregon/Nor Cal coast. MQM haul will be decent, depending on whether I connect to Horizon at LAX or to SkyWest at SLC. Going through LAX would yield 10.8K MQMs (no doubling on the Horizon segment) and of course the 10K RDM bonus.

One night in BNA between trips, then maybe off to BOI for a few days. Never been there, and it's pricing out at about $243. That wouldn't yield as many MQMs, but hotels and cars in BOI are cheap. For that trip, I could use pay with miles, for which 25K would cover the airfare. In return I would be getting 9K MQMs and 20K RDMs, so the 9K MQMs would cost me 5K RDMs net. I kind of like that math. Need to see what all there is to to in BOI and what the weather will be like.

So one night in BNA, 4 nights in MFR, one night in BNA, 3 nights in BOI, and maybe one last night in BNA depending on arrival time. 19.8K MQMs net, 18.5K RDMs net and some nights in new places.

If Delta doesn't change all the fares by tomorrow, I might do it.

Yay, someone else who is MR'ing to BOI!! I saw it and jumped right on it. They mocked me, but since I'm going there myself, I won't mock you. I'm headed out and back on 9/13, I'll be sure to say hi for you!

I thought DL treated pay-with-miles like award tickets, which means (I think) that you can't get MQMs or bonus miles. Do I misunderstand or has something changed?

Take a look @ RDU. RDU-BOS is ~ $120 a/i. RDU-SEA is around 275. You can route RDU-ATL-BOS-ATL-RDU in one day (or add RDU-ATL-BOS in that day)...

So...I has a Skyteam RTW 34k J class issued by KE ,LAX-HNL-ICN are the only currently booked legs (this is for next summer)
so:From what I've heard, LAX-HNL served by the 757 stinks. Having enjoyed AS F SEA-HNL, is DL's F on the HI routes served by everything but the ex-NW A333 that much worse than AS F?
How's DL's J product if I nab the A333 the 767 or the 747 on HNL-NRT vs KE's "lesser" J that is most likely going to serve HNL?
ATL-LAX is served by the 777L once a day right(repositioning for the SYD route?) and I should do my darnedest to get on it to get BE?

And my Warriors are gonna be crushed by those damn Trojans in 4 hours...
I was in HNL very recently and I was surprised at the amount of Trojan flags flying around...I was frankly shocked as I've never seen a college town so proud of its college as HNL and UH, I thought a Trojan flag in HNL would be like a Trojan flag in Westwood, CA(where UCLA is); asking to get egged and TP'd I have no love for Trojan football(most of family are Bruins) so go Warriors!
edit:game starting...

Ouch, you guys are right. In the excitement of thinking about PWM tickets being eligible for upgrades, I forgot about they don't earn miles. Thanks for the save! ^

Those are great suggestions, and I may look at that if I want to roll up some miles later in the year. BNA is pretty convenient to HSV, RDU not as much.

I'm wanting to get in some actual vacation in addition to rolling up the MQMs. I may part with a few Hilton points for some of the nights. Medford should be great, Boise we'll have to see. Weather wise it seems a good time of year for both.

Being as it is fall season, and BNA is a big WN operation, I'm surprised that some of the fares are frankly pretty high. Guess I drank too much WN kool-aid.

Thanks, again!

David

Things to do in/from Boise:

Territorial prison on Warm Springs Ave.

Rental car abuse event #1: spend a day driving around the Trinity Lakes/Rocky Bar area east of Boise. If you're still adventuresome, try the road from Rocky Bar to Atlanta, 11 miles, should take a couple hours.

Rental car abuse event #2: Silver City southeast of Boise in Owyhee County.

Hell's Canyon, though it's a bit long of a drive for a day trip out of Boise

Snake River valley on the Oregon border south & west of Boise

Unfortunately no airshow at Mountain Home AFB this year

KE usually alternates between a 747 and a 777 on the route, so you might have a better J product by next year. Of course, the alteration is seasonal, so not sure what you'd get. I've been checking KE's schedule though, and they now have a 3x a week flight added. So one can now fly from ICN to HNL without being subjected to a red eye! That's quite attractive if you ask me since I don't handle those red eyes from Asia very well. I believe the flight leaves ICN in the morning and gets in here at HNL around 11 p.m.

DL's J product on HNL-NRT isn't that bad. Just flew it a few weeks ago. It was significantly better when it was NW's J product, as the meals were a bit more up to par with international food standards. The Japanese meal has definitely taken a few steps back in quality, so I'd just go with the Western options unless you're really hankering for white rice. Same pod seats and usually a toss up on the crew. I've got pics of the meal if you'd like to see them--shoot me a PM.

There are roughly 2000 Trojan alumni in Hawaii (according to the Hawaii Alumni Club's website). That's a good number of them, and probably ranks pretty far up there, with the University of Hawaii taking the top. So there is a bit of maroon and gold out there, much to my and mostly everyone else's chagrin.

You mentioned Joplin, MO many posts ago.....what is it you sell in that place?

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding there 20 + years ago and the bridal party didn't find it a roaring place....

Getting ready for the hurricane to storm the beaches. A bit gray, Earl.

I had thought about retreating to the hills, but I've got some below sea level space to defend.
