I think it is embarrasing that a Senior Moderator would insult someone like that. Canarsie is a human being and has a right to an opinion, but I would think a Moderator would be professional and not do that.

If you are unable to handle the mildest suggestion or comment from him, perhaps it is time to look in the mirror and decide whether this forum contributes to your happiness. There is much banter and humor here, and you don't seem to enjoy it one bit. The forum is not going to change. It is not facebook where folks post little tidbits and their friends fawn over everything. It's more akin to a friendly poker game.

Your choices are to continue being unhappy, learn to deal with it, or walk away and find happiness in real life.

I hope you will think about it.

Best wishes,
David
I very much so enjoy the humor that comes here. I simply do not appreciate the constant insults directed at me. I'm a laid back person and I am very casual. I am not 100% on my grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. because I would expect not to be criticized about it.

  3. Canarsie doesn't have a humorous bone in his body. He wouldn't recognize a funny turn of a phrase if he stumbled upun one in broad daylight, let alone in a dark and dank Lounge™. He is a beige automaton, a wholly owned over-paid bureaucratic operative of International Randy Enterprises. He's also geographically challenged- Canarsie in Atlanta? What a joke.
Hahahahaha +1

Folks, you remember how I submitted a complaint about my experiences in ATL on March 15th with the GA and the pilot scanning BPs?

After arriving off that flight, my mileage balance was 24,162. Currently, it is 27,862. Under my history it lists "Customer Relations Bonus Miles" as 3,700 miles. Mileage expiration is noe September 2012.

What an oddball number being 3,700 miles, but I appreciate the fact that I at least got a response. Even more appreciative that I got miles out of it.

That is so, because it is blatantly obvious that it is just a joke. From my perspective, anything that is directed at me is meant in all seriousness.

I have resisted commenting on this... and let me begin with this disclaimer - I have both a personal and professional relationship with Canarsie. If you truly knew Canarsie, you would know that he is absolutely one of the most hard working and professional people I know. He maintains a level of personal integrity you would be hard pressed to find at a higher level from anyone else. You might not have liked the comment he made, but it was in NO WAY unprofessional, inaccurate or a personal attack. Good writing skills that include proper grammar and spelling are essential for success in college. (see my note below on why he might think that was important).

I would like to ask that you please stop with the feedback regarding his comments. IMO, it is unwarranted and has moved into the realm of annoying.

Having six kids, I do realize that at 16 you think you have experienced all there is, but you will find that there is a lot of wisdom to be learned from those that have been around a little longer than you have. TJ... I have to tell you that one day when you are a little older and wiser, you will realize how much potential the members of this forum think you have.

I also think that several of us, including myself, do actually like you, and care enough to provide you with some guidance. IMO, you should feel honored that you are the focus of that care and concern, and not interpret that as "insults". Just my 2 cents!!

Greetings to the Lounge from my hometown of New York City. I'm actually right across the street right now from the first place I ever lived...having a nice lunch at Cucina & Co (and stocking up on quality baked goods while in town...Mpls has nothing on NYC in this area...)

Nope have a date for dinner there. And am meeting up with some friends. You clearly don't see all perspectives.

Why is it that you say you enjoy the humor here, but then right away say that anything directed to you "is meant in all seriousness"? Not everything said to anyone on this forum, including YOU, is always or even often meant in seriousness. If you are actually as "laid back" and "casual" as you believe yourself to be, you would never say that you take everything as serious. TJ, it's time to chill a bit....

FT policy has always been that moderators are members first, moderators second. "Senior" moderators exist mainly to handle issues that come up in forums that are otherwise unmoderated.

Oh I know you do, considering one past DO and another coming around the corner. Other than that particular comment, I do think Canarsie is one of the most professional and intelligent members of this website.

I completely understand that I have a lot ahead of me in life that I haven't experienced yet.

Well my thought was that it takes a lot of time to get there, and to go for the weekend only is a short time for a far away place. But otherwise have a good trip!

To be honest, I don't see any humor in how people treat me on here.

...but I did not insult you.

If I said you write like a blind three-legged pregnant purple female donkey with a hairy goiter on its neck and smells like a clogged sewer, that is a subjective statement that might be construed as insulting, as there is no factual information in that statement and could cast a pall (not paul) on you.

Furthermore, I stated an objective fact, not an opinion. That fact was stated to assist you to learn, not to belittle you, insult you or otherwise harm you in any way. In fact, I could say that I am insulted that you would even think that way of me after all of the times I stood up for you, defended you and took your side on FlyerTalk, but life is too short and it is really not a big deal.

Finally, regardless of what anyone else says, I am delighted that you are here on FlyerTalk. I think that it is important that we foster the interests of a fellow frequent flier, no matter the age. It is certainly a much healthier interest that what many teenagers consider fun these days, and no education can be better than actually seeing the world. I think you have a lot of potential and encourage you to travel, as well as to keep your mind open to what others are trying to say to you.

I am too.

It's interesting to read the perspective of a 16 year old. I don't interact with too many folks in that age group.

Greetings from my JFK-LAS flight. 9 of us in F on the 757, which means an empty seat next to me, which means I have Texas-Rice on the TV on 6C, Perdue-Notre Dame on the TV on 6D (my seat) and Texas-Minnesota baseball on my laptop.

All I need is for the seatbelt sign to go off and I can enjoy a Woodford to top it off
