SCORE on the upgrade!

What's interesting is that both AF27 and AF39 have been quite empty for the past few months, but generally the CIO and other leisure flights are packed to the gills. In fact the last time I was on AF3508, they were looking for volunteers to get re-routed via FDF to CAY so that they could accommodate everyone.

The upgrade will be handy as the my connection from US to AF is only down to 45 minutes.... Surely, AF would never leave if a P passenger is not on board

From my calculations, I'll need another bout--after this one--of AF shenanigans and it should be enough for a J ticket PVD-ATL-CDG-LAD/FIH-CDG-DTW-PVD (I've been watching this itinerary for a while as I've been meaning to visit friends of mine).

I think I put my sun potion in my bag, but who knows, I was enjoying glasses of Woodford while packing...

Too small of an airport for any club from what I remember on my trips to DSM.

Sorry to say that the lovely airport in DSM does not have any clubs or lounges whatsoever...... there is a regular bar there though and the entire airport is squeaky new.
Squeaky new? When did that happen?

I think the most interesting to note was an equipment change from the 343 to the 744 CIO on the ORY-CAY. Therefore, with the realignment, the last 6 rows of Affaires turns into Alizι. Because of that, not only will I be on the upper deck, but there will most likely be a voucher heading in my direction either at CDG or ORY. I can then add this to my collection of AF vouchers for the year in which I received one due to errors with interline ticketing on SB as well as another ORY-CAY in which there was a substitution.

However, apparently AF is trying to close the loophole which allowed myself and other Affaires passengers to use SWUs to upgrade into P . Has DL been conspiring with AF to make SkyPesos™ into the new Flying Blue?

And, to cap it all off, there will be no escape from Les Cars as Affaires passengers, who are connecting to ORY will be escorted to the coaches from 2E . Guess there goes my plan of taking the RER into the city and easting breakfast in the 8eme, and then continuing out to ORY .

On a lighter note, the AF agent was able to upgrade me to F on the CAY-FDF, and FDF-PTP-PAP-MIA.

And, on the 744 CIO, the J seats are the standard recliner-type as the routes are too profitable to take the 744s out of service to retrofit with new J lie-flat seats.

And, I scored the upgrade into P on IAD-CDG, which also makes up for it...

But, will you come the long way (via PAR) or the short way (via MIA-PAP-PTP-FDF)?

Not sure... it would depend on the day of travel and what seats were available on the different flights ....

Hmmmm....... I do love the croissants in Paris, though.....

Depends on how quickly you need the sun potion. Would you rather be rare or well done?

That would of course be an important factor as well.... Thanks Italy98 for pointing that out.

There is an even easier (faster) way of getting there, in less than 8 hours, but the miles are ridiculously miniscule and on an airline I would rather not fly.

Does medium count?

I'm sure for a given price, AF will ensure that you will not only get a seat to PAR but also a "wonderful" seat on the Les Cars.

What is probably going to be annoying at ORY is the fact that they probably have not re-organized the check-in area for the flights out of the international hall--which means lines that stretch down to the lower level...

As long as it's not "burnt to a crisp".

The extra price is specifically due to the wonderfulness of "Les Cars" seats... spacious and private.

No, not TX but close.... I think that the passengers have to wind up the propeller rubber band before the plane takes off....

Have a good trip!

You have to put sun potion into checked bags. If you have least 3.4oz with liquid restrictions. TSA will let you through at checkpoint.
