I've only flown them once in the past 7 or 8 years, because a client insisted on booking me on them. We have to make a quick trip to Des Moines, and we don't feel like driving or spending $500 each r/t, so I figured it would be a great chance to try to burn those miles.

Disappointing. I was only able to use 17,500 for each of us r/t, so I'm still stuck with over 15k to get rid of. (I also "bought up" to economy plus for $19@ on the return, to get a little leg room). United.bomb crashed a lot, and kept giving cryptic error messages, but I closed and reopened the browser and finally booked it. Another tacky thing about the UA site is that they're getting to be like Ryanair; I had to go through a bunch of screens trying to sell me extra "features" before I could finally reach the checkout. Selling extra EQM's, upgrades, insurance, lots of other stuff that I managed to block out of my memory.

Still, the ease of finding flights exactly when I wanted for 17.5k r/t was a surreal experience, and might make up for the anticipated surly UA/ORD personnel.

Now to haunt the UA forum and see if anyone can guest us to the ORD RCC; or we could just clear security at T2, use the SC, and then walk over to T1. I don't suppose there is an SC or RCC at DSM?
That upsell is one aspect of UA that is extremely annoying. The other annoying aspect is UX.

I checked in online to depart from Geneva last year, but at the ticket counter (I had to check on the gate assignment or something), the agent acted as though my preprinted boarding passes were not valid. Turned out that his real objective was to subject me to another round of attempted upsell. Very annoying!

Indeed to both counts.

Even as a President's Club member (with access to the Red Carpet Clubs), I still tended to walk over to Concourse E on layovers over an hour to use the Crown Room (err...SkyClub as SMI and RDU FT Lurker quickly reminded me of the other day ). The only real redeeming values of the RCCs are lots of outlets in the B concourse lounges and the Pepperidge Farm cookies - other than that, I prefer the SC except for it being crowded at times. It's a 10 minute walk from there to the C concourse, which isn't horrible.

I don't miss the constant attempts at upsales on United though. And the end of the F concourse is the absolute worst boarding experience I've ever had (for those of you that have access to my Facebook photos, I posted a photo of the of F12 from earlier this summer on there in my Mobile photos section...).

I didn't graduate from high school either. I "dropped out" after my junior year. Do you have a problem with that, Grasshopper?

My high school did try really hard to get me to return and take the 1.5 classes I needed for graduation, but since I had "dropped out" to start college a year early (with recommendations from several teachers and the assistant principal), that seemed awfully regressive and nonproductive.

And it's a good thing that you do! Just because there's a doorway that appears to be a Red Carpet Club entrance, and behind that door way is a lounge dragon who to deny you access, does not mean that UA will actually admit to having a lounge at that location.

Yes, its very tougher that you will try to earns real HS diploma or GED standard. I wasn't have a real high school diploma since I graduated from old schools. Now on, My English is getting much better for everyday. I knows when I enrolled at PVCC but, it was very tough for me. So however, I will try to do read the forums that now I am learning how to speaks more communications skills.

You've got me beat.

Dropped out midway through duh ninth grade and got a job in the thriving buggy whip manufacturing business.

Never looked back since. Best decision I ever made.

All too often my name is written as "Dovester" -- turning me from a Hebrew bear to an English bird.

This just made me think....has anyone tried to tell TSA that sunblock in excess of 3-1-1 is allowed for medical reasons, like OTC cough medicine and saline for contacts?

Same here about the clean-up. I love to cook, it is just after the fact that puts a damper on the process. I do use parchment paper and or aluminum foil as much as possible.

Cholula - my Cholula baseball hat is drawing a lot of attention and comments. One lady wanted to buy it from me right off my head.

I started that habit in junior high school.

In my last (junior) year of high school, my 3rd year Latin teacher was writing requests to get me excused from other classes (e.g. French where half the class was repeating it from the year before -- how one can flunk 1st year high school French is beyond comprehension) so I could go across town to the university library for whatever.

High school was so useless -- more people should bug out & leave it behind.

That's cool. Do you sell them on e-Bay? We need to be prepared for the day when we are out o fuel. Every home needs a buggy whip.

Can you bring some buggy whip coupons to the DO?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8330/4.5.0.175 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Good afternoon from the house where I just finished some lunch before I venture out to PVD to begin my *adventure* to CAY.

I can only imagine how UA is going to treat a US ticketed passenger (I have a feeling that I will have to check in with US instead of UA...
