Good evening to The Lounge™ from The Beach House™ where I have been moving things from The Boat™ back inside as the days are getting considerably cooler and, that in December, The Boat™ will begin its multi-month odyssey at drydock to repair and replace everything from outdrives to GPS, radiotelephones to the bar that has a direct access to 1 of the cargo areas.
From what I was told, it should be about a 4 month process, finishing in April, however, it may take some time as the specified thickness of the hull plates is customized, which means that any panel that needs replacement must be custom-made and tooled to fit perfectly. And it seems that both engines may need refurbishment.
But, on another note, I finally got around to checking up on my itineraries in November. The biggest change was the PVD-PER run, as now I'm on PVD-LGA (US) | JFK-FRA-SIN (SQ 25) | SIN-PER (SQ), while it is the same return. The big bummer is that tentatively the SQ25 is operated by a 744 and not the A380 .
Also, AF still has open seats in Y and J for AF888... . However availability for AF889 is falling (I wonder why)

winter is arriving
Since returning from the DO in beautiful warm sunny Atlanta, I've been hearing a certain four-letter S word: not that one, *snow*. We're now at a wind chill of 36 degrees Fahrenheit (about +2 Centigrade) since before 7 pm with rain mixed with snow predicted for the next 36 hours or so. This morning's rush was a bit of a mess with lots of minor accidents in the heavy rain, wind, and light fog. This evening the sky looked threatening and stormy with beautiful but violent shades of gray and dark purple. (This seems to be part of the same storm system that's causing problems for DTW today.)
Very sad. The streets could be white by daybreak. However, the good news is that we don't seem to be on track for one of our notorious Halloween blizzards in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
At least my car has heated seats and lives in a heated garage (except when it's in airport general parking).
All of this is worse that noticing while coming home from the airport Sunday night that a lot of leaves have fallen during my absence so that the trees looked half way to the dead of winter. I was a little shocked then, although I should know to expect it.

Wind is whipping outside my apartment in St Louis Park - I think I'll be content to stay home tonight instead of braving the elements (which is what I'll be doing tomorrow evening...)

It was probably a good idea to not stay on The Boat™ for the next day or so.

Went to drivers ed...I open the door (which is in the back side of the school into the hallway, and everyone is there. The door to the classroom was locked, so we just sat there and talked for half a hour and then our teacher let us go. I did get credit for a regular 2 hour class. Life is good.

Two of my three biggest thrills at the Delta DO were meeting these two fine folks!!
I had TOTALLY pegged them both wrong based on my exceptionally lame-o detective skills.
I pegged one as a 60-year-old and the other as definitely a man but of indeterminate age.
Totally wrongo in both cases. My extreme bad.
Glad to have had the chance to meet and talk to each of you.
The other thrill already knows who she is.
Speaking of the DO, one of the positive things to come out in planning for the next DO is limiting attendance to those 25 or older.
We all, of course, witnessed many younger children running amok amongst heavy moving machinery.
I even had to snatch an errant child from this 777 engine which was under repair:
It'll be a relief when we don't have to deal with such issues in future DO's.

Glad I got some heat from the tacos at lunch today...we don't live too far away from each other. If you need a recommendation for tacos with some fire...let me know. Good and true mexican spicy fare.

That was the first time I stayed overnight at Mrs. runninaway's pad. Needless to say we were snoweed in the next day. She later confessed that the next day all she wanted was for me to go the f**k home....that was the first and last time I've heard her drop an "F" bomb.
If you're on the general Lake Street corridor there's a place east of 35 that serves tripe tacos that are surprisingly good.
How windy is it at home? I'm sitting in the middle SC in DTW with 2 flights worth of delayed MSP pax.
