There's a possibility for people to commit suicide anywhere if they want to - space is not a requirement -

Yes but when using the given method, hanging, space and structure DOES become a limiting factor.

I've been in plenty of airplane lavs...I'm still not convinced that this wasn't an accidental hanging!

To put yourself in the mood?

Usually it is too many flights (on crj's) in a single week that has me in that mood, by the last flight of an 8 crj segment week I should probably be watched carefully if I head for the lav (however I have a distinct policy on not using a CRJ lav unless it is an absolute total emergency...luckily I have a strong bladder).

Would that suck the rope down around his neck?

This sounds like a really exciting activity for a family home evening!!!! Instead of playing monopoly or watching Leave it to Beaver reruns, gather the family around the dining table (maybe even just do this as a nice after dinner conversation), and solve the pressing question of the day: How does one hang oneself in airplane lavatory?

When little Missy's boyfriend stops by to take her out to a movie (and rescue her from the rest of the wackos), you can take him aside and ask, "Son, can you help us out a bit? Have you ever given any thought as to how you might hang yourself in an airplane lavatory?"

I have been told, by more than a few people, that you need to be watched carefully all of the time.

I admit to having failed in my duty to do that at the PBI Meet but I have a good excuse -- I was too busy watching firephoenix all of the time.

Dov you made the right choice. Fire has a much better figure for watching!

Which would result in you sitting on the floor of the lav looking like an idiot wiht a wet rope around your neck into the toliet, but I dont believe it would kill you. However this whole topic might warrant a note to myth busters, heck they have tried everything else with a plane (getting your butt sealed to the seat, shooting chickens at the windscreen (frozen and thawed), decompression tricks).

You all know you are going to look in the lav the next time you are there to see how one would hang themself!

At the Wisconsin State Fair, there is a Midway Arcade game where you can shoot rubber chickens into cooking pots using a small catapault. 3 for 3 wins you a prize. (Fat Chance)
