Well another night in ATL....have a newbie with me I met in the lounge, everyone say hi to Kort (he tells me he will log in later). we are both on a flight to DFW (anyone want to tell me what time zone that is, I am soooooooooooooo confused...been SNA, NYC,STL, ATL and now DFW since Saturday.......still have MSP, DTW, TOL, ATL a couple times and DSM before I see home.....who is going to come find me on a baggage carousel somewhere?????????

Hi Kort. DFW is in central time zone. I may not know where I am but I do know US time zones.

 

Kort says thanks. I really think they should stamp your hand with time zone when you get off the plane so when you wake up the next morning you actually know where you MIGHT be. Now not sure if you dont wash the stamp off after connections how you handle it, but at this point....who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

You know, now that I'm a platinum, I don't feel any different.
I was on flying from Detroit to Kalamazoo, FA asked me if I was kidding that this was my Platinum cross-over flight. I told her I wasn't kidding.
The people around me gave me those looks saying, "damn you are platinum? You don't look platinum."... I wore basketball shorts and tshirt, perhaps that's now how plats usually dress on their flights.

 

So what exactly does a platinum look like? Will I change how I look when I cross that line *smile*. Is this like the frog/prince thing? Please tell me you dont start looking like Dov *grin*

They have their stereotype; we need to rattle their cages. I don't "look" Platinum either. I wear jeans (generally w/ a few marks from bicycle chains & leg clips), sometimes t-shirts, hair's usually kind of long. SchmutzipMSP "complains" of the same phenomenon (not that he really cares either ).

First time I flew in "F" as a Plat I threw my carryons in the closest forward bin (bins over my seat & across the aisle were full), FA gave me her most condescending "you scruffy bum" look & informed that someone else was about to put his stuff in that bin. I looked at her, shrugged my shoulders, and sat down.

At some point she must have looked at the manifest & realized I was a Plat. She became exceptionally nice for the rest of the trip. My impression (on NW anyway) is that once the manifest is in hand, FA's often make an extra effort with Plats.

(Oh, and I even "guessed" on this post. I'm in the wrong place. Is the bar still open in the lounge?)

 

By the way, I was also on a NWA metal. The FA was new to the job, only 8 months young in the pinnacle / nwa system. She probably thought I looked pretty young to be a platinum. I just turned 28 but most people say I look early 20's. It must be the Asian thing...
When I landed on Kalamazoo, I did not see any Delta Connection agents holding a welcome new platinum member sign though. I was pretty disappointed.

 

I noticed that some NWA regional airports allow DL elites to upgrade at the gate. It's only 30 minutes long but, it's still on FC. Right before getting on board, I told the GA that I was a skyteam elite and I forgot to be put on the upgrade list, he told me to find myself an empty FC seat. When the lead FA didn't find me on the manifest, she came and confirmed it with the GA and I was allowed to sit there.
