I don't think you'll be able to request a room that "used to be non-smoking before". Second point, smokers can now smoke in smoking rooms, when the hotel goes non-smoking, hard core smokers will smoke in their room anyway making any room in the hotel a potential room that smells like smoke. Of course this is only my opinion and YMMV.
I agree completely. When I get back to my hotel from working all day, I like to get into something comfortable (i.e. something that can't be worn outside). I will not be able to get comfortable until I actually go to bed at night (which is usually preceeded by a last smoke). I'll won't be able to watch a tv program uninterrupted, get ready for bed until I actually go to bed, and when winter hits, I'll have to put up with standing outside in the cold. I would be tempted to figure out some way to smoke in my room. I tried this once and the result wasn't very pretty....!

Dovster, no wonder the women flee from you. Don't you know that kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray?

Sorry, folks — this is a non-smoking Lounge.

You will have to go down the hall and congregate over there at The Branniff Forum Lounge Thread — Everybody is Welcome! thread...

...of course, I am just kidding. As the thread title says: Everybody is Welcome!

No, it sounds like not everyone is welcome, smokers are not... but that's the way of the world these days... It was put so well in the Marriott non-smoking thread:

Congrats, I have noticed you worked quite hard on that with all those RJ Flights. I know I will be about 20k short of Plat this year, unless someone knows of some good inexpesive MR's that I can do between now and the end of the year.

BTW, we need to get our view count up, that other thread about that thing happeing in the east is taking over.....

SLC-DEN is $140 all in. Make your double connection through JFK-MCO with SDC

I'm going to try the CO lounge in concourse D ATL, however I do not have my DL PL card yet. Can I just show them my boarding pass with my platinum and show them my gold card, will that get me in?
