The new hot dogs are bland. We used to make special trips to Costco for the Kosher dogs. Now we go about twice a month, after lunch elsewhere.

That's a good point IMO.

If you surveyed 100 people as to whether they'd prefer the previous Kosher dogs at a higher price or the new, larger Costco dog at the original $1.50 price, I'll guarantee you that 99.9 out of a 100 would say "Give me a bigger dog for $1.50."

Plus, folks, we're kinda foodies who participate in this forum. I'm not too sure that many folks #1 Knew that Costco previously served a Kosher dog or #2 That the new dog is anything different.

You guys do realize that you're complaining about a foot long hot dog that only costs you $1.50 with a 20 oz soda included with unlimited refills. Oh, and it's a hot dog. We're not talking confit of duck here.

With the bundle I drop on name brand Rxs every month -- 100% out of pocket, no insurance -- Costco can well afford to toss me a bone once in a while.

Nothing better to do than complain about the trivial complaints of others?

Has anyone been to the Seoul (Yeongdeongpo-gu) Costco on a Saturday afternoon? The minuscule foodcourt they have downstairs is PACKED. But 12,500W for a massive Bulgogi pizza is the best value in town for pizza.

Its also fun to watch the middle aged women go to the onion chunk dispenser and get a heaping plate full of crushed onions and mix it together with mustard to serve as a 'side dish' to the gorging family. I feel sorry for the guy who refills that, as its empty every 2-3 minutes, as each mother seems to need 1kg of crushed onions+mustard for their table.

Why the rolleyes??

Is Hawai`i not allowed to have non-"unique" (whatever that means here) examples of good food? I know of a very good Mexican restaurant on the Big Island. In fact, I'd call it ono

Up until recently, Costco had a very good (i.e., "ono") hotdog. Hence, it was a good and cheap place to eat in Hawai`i. Hence the "ono" for both good food and good value.

I understood ono to only apply to the quality/"deliciousness" of an item, not the value.

If ono gets applied to a hot dog (with all the other tasty eats in Hawaii) then yes a rolleyes fully applies IMO.

Even those who live in Hawai`i sometimes just want a hotdog They're as much local food as anything else.

It was a good hot dog. It was cheap but price was not the main attraction at least for me - it was easy to grab on the run and I knew I could find it in almost every town whenever I wanted a hot dog. And now it's gone. Bummer.

Give me the kosher dog as an alternative even if it has to be priced a $1 more for a combo. I believe Costco would be shocked at the number of people that would pay $2.50 even if the new big, bland dog combo remained available for $1.50.

I really doubt many would pay extra. Most munchers there appear to be in a speed-eating contest.
