5* Upgrade
New flyertalk member, and I fully intend on getting much use out of this between Hertz 5* and my AA and Continental mileage questions.
I made 5* this year, and my next rental is out of SNA. Anyone have any insights at what the upgrade from D might be if they offer me one/how often the SNA staff even pay attention to 5*?

By all accounts, I wouldn't get your hopes too high for an upgrade at SNA.
5* upgrades are not guaranteed, but as per availability.
If you haven't already read it, here's the relevant page from Hertz.com:
https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/ememb...umGoldbenefits
Also take a look at this thread about the different Hertz levels:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz...lained-13.html
As in the above thread, there is already lots of good information on this forum and the airline ones, and invariably your question has been asked and answered before. So it's always a good start to do a search before asking a question.

A lot of upgrades seem to be "in class" upgrades. For example, from an "F" to a "YF", which is typically just a better equipped F, maybe with sunroof and leather, for example. Since inventory varies quite a bit at any location, nobody here can guess what you will be offered at a given location on a given day.

I've gotten a few upgrades here and there but I can't say the cars I've gotten would have been any different if I hadn't been 5*.
Also I wanted to note that the last couple of YFs I've had were very plain Altimas without any added features. It's a perfectly fine car, one of my favorites really. But it's worth making clear that even if you get "upgraded" from F to YF you won't necessarily have a better-equipped car, just a different one.

Don't get your hopes up...
Even as a PC, I often have to fight for upgrades--and usually don't bother. Only exception: my local rental station always upgrades me, but that's because they recognize me, not because of status per se...
