The main gripe I have with Hertz is when driving to California ski resorts, is that you cannot book a "Snow package" out of LAX, LAS or SFO, and you're not allowed to fit chains to a Hertz rental. So I end up making a few reservations for various SUV's and then finding the one with snow tyres or all weather tyres and cancelling the the other bookings when I am there.

I was glad the Audi Q7 was the pick last time ^

exbayern: Where are you located at the moment that is getting all this snow ?
I know what you mean about the chains but i tend to take the attitude that for $30-$40 in walmart for a set of chains its just an extra insurance. The rental agreement doesn't say i cant carry chains and if it gets to the point i need to fit them then i couldn't care what the rental agreement says.

Yep I wouldn't let Hertz saying I cannot fit chains stop me from fitting chains. I have fitted chains many times and know how to use them, so there is VERY little chance of them damaging the vehicle!

My only concern is being involved in a crash and the chains being fitted to the car. I hate to think what that would mean to any insurance and liability
