Once again thanks for getting back to me. But that doesn't really help with my problem if I do go on that link it show's "Hertz #1 ClubGold" and then I click the "join now" button but nothing loads. If I then go through my standard #1 club membership and select upgrade to Gold I can enter all necessary details etc... but there is no mention of a fee being waived before I can click submit with my card details entered.

I guess my question is now is perhaps this deal only open in the USA?

Or if I go through with the gold upgrade from the standard #1 club will it cost the $60?

Finally if I can upgrade to gold will I then just need to be logged in, enter the young driver surcharge waiver code (PC: 144314) and should this stop me seeing the red error message I mentioned I saw earlier?

All the best.

Gold Family CDP means you do not use the Underage Coupon.

If there are unresolved red error messages or discrepancies when signing up for Gold Family, try calling or e-mailing Hertz. Computer glitches with their website happen often.

Ok so I have been in contact with Hertz and they have been able to clear up a few things for me...

Firstly the PC that waives under 25 surcharge is only available when you book your car for collection before 31 April 2011, (and like I said I'm travelling in September).

Secondly the hertz.com/goldfamily discount programme thingy is only available to US residents and like I said I'm based in the UK so thats a no go aswell.

I guess the last thing I want to ask anyone who can help is if I just book using a gold family CDP (that I cam across on this fourm (CDP: 1826991)) online it seems to take the CDP into account, and my total estimated price does drop the amount of the young drivers surcharge, will I get stung on collection?

Would be great if anyone could give me a heads up from experience (maybe from the UK?)...or failing that an alternative company that might be a better bet for a UK young driver.

Thanks a million guys

The Gold Family CDP automatically waives the underage fee, and goes with Gold service. If you're not a Gold member:

-an airport might be confused and not allow you to bypass the counter, at which they could investigate the situation

-a neighborhood store where everyone has to interact with the counter staff might wonder what's going on and look up your Gold information, or lack thereof

I heard some discount brands, like Alamo and Thrifty, offer young driver packages for non-US residents.

I signed up for regular gold free through AAA. Would that mean that even though I'm under 25 I can't get the discount? Everytime, it shows the under age driver fee. Do they have like a member services to call to ask about it?

Edit: I think I figured it out. If you use the CDP it waves the fee. However, I get a better deal with the AAA rate and the current underage PC fee waiving code.
