Is correct.

Wretched chocolate.

Yes, they are clearly better.

Back Tower: "Deluxe Rooms": ca 40 sqm, 1 room
Front Tower: "Grand Deluxe Rooms" ca 55 sqm, separate Living room and bedroom, like a junior suite

Usual difference in price: 50 - 60 Singapore Dollars

As Diamonds, per GP benefits, we get...."Enjoy the best room available including Regency Club™ or Grand Club™ rooms, excludes suite"

Since Front Tower is a suite like room and access req'd $50 co-pay for Diamonds during FFN stays, perhaps Hotel should rename them as "Grand Deluxe Suite" and not "Grand Deluxe Rooms" to avoid confusion. I just thought Grand Deluxe Rooms are Deluxe Rooms on Grand club floor.....then again, it was my first visit to SIN.

They require $50 upgrade fee for paid stays, at least for me. I guess I just don't have the dashing look of SanDiego1K.

When they realized that we have an early flight to catch, the staff arranged room service with juice, muffins, cold cut meat.....to our room at 5am. It was a nice touch and I don't remember ever getting this from other Hyatt properties.

Gimme the chocs.

Perhaps the missus and the kids aren't used to chocolate truffles. The chocs here are from the Mezza9 restaurant.. my friends fight over that little box when they come visit. I am usually blessed to even have one piece left for myself.

I actually prefer the rooms at the back.. its at least newer than the front rooms. And yes, the staff here asked if I'd like breakfast in my room as I'll be leaving before the lounge opens. Nice touch.

just recently stayed a night at the GH Singapore.. i am just a lowly Gold Passport gold member, but was still nevertheless given a free upgrade from the grand king to a grand deluxe king in the grand wing without me badgering for it.

i was pleasantly surprised, the room was spacious cause it was essentially a bedroom plus an additional living room (EXACTLY how the Grand Deluxe King looked like from the pictures on hyatt.com). i think it was probably cause the hotel was really empty, from the look of all the dark unlit rooms at night. i thought singapore would be more crowded given the youth olympic games going on at this time...

was also given a late checkout at my request (but only up till 2pm, but hey, can't be too greedy right?)

.. but not too pleased when i found out that internet access would cost SGD25/24hour block!!

otherwise a perfect stay at GH Singapore.

I got a box of red dates, instead of the chocolates, on my stay last week. This came in the same little Mezza9 box. I believe this was due to the Ramadan.

A bit of a letdown for me as I was looking forward to the chocs.

Had a 2 night stay this week.

Slightly early check-in was accomodated without comment - met by a greeter upon arrival via cab and was escorted to the GC for check-in. Assigned a "suite" in the front tower since they said that my "twin bed" reservation (my mother was with me) was sold out in the back tower - since my mother was with me a room in the back tower probably would have been better in this case due to the strange configuration of the GC not being accessible via elevator in the front tower (we were informed that we were welcome to use the back tower's GC and keys were programmed appropriately - which we did use). The B&O tube televisions have been replaced by LG flat panels - I think a downgrade but someone else may disagree. Diamond amenity was the usual 9 piece box of chocolates. Not sure if the fruit was a Diamond amenity of a "regular" room amenity - small bunch of bananas the first day and two large mangos the second day. I should note also that the checkin staff at the GC asked about our departure time and when told that we had to leave around 5:30 AM (before the GC opened - offered and arranged for breakfast via room service - but we cancelled it preferring to sleep and leave rather than take the time to eat).

Currently at this property, my fourth stay here since I hit Diamond last May

Checked in late last night, no greeter outside so went straight to the front desk. Was welcomed back by the agent, who told me that I had been assigned a room in the front tower facing Scotts Rd (as I had noted in the reservation). However, she then corrected herself and said that my room was actually in the back tower. She then called a greeter who proceeded to escort me directly to my room where my folio and keys were waiting.

I then commented to the greeter that I didn't get a room in the Front Tower as requested, she then offered to assist me if I wanted to upgrade to a Grand Deluxe room in the Front Tower with an extra charge of S$60 per night. I told her that on my last stay I had been given a Grand Deluxe room without additional charge. She then said that all the Grand Deluxe rooms were sold out, that was why they didn't upgrade there me in the first place. Umm...didn't she just say she would be glad to assist me if I wanted to upgrade with an S$60 additional charge per night?

Anyway I was too tired to pursue the matter further, so I just let it go. To be honest, I like the back tower's GC better. The front tower's GC felt claustrophobic for me as it has low ceiling with tables arranged too close together. The back tower's is also less crowded with a lot of private corners.

Diamond amenity was the usual 9-piece box of chocs from Mezza9 and 3 pears.

one nighter this week room in back tower. But I find the rooms nice enough (esp for 1 night) and did not ask about an upgrade. The lounge has a great breakfast offering. Overall very well organized and attentive service.

... anyone have any more info on the Front Tower vs Back Tower issues with them charging a supplement? I'm headed there in 2 weeks and am curious if this is still going on.

I keep reading about this supplement being asked for, and nobody over all the years has ever even mentioned it to me.

The only difference I keep noticing is that the posts read "... and the greeter took me to the front desk"

You see, I never go to the front desk, I always go to the club floor directly. having plonked myself in the chair, after the hellos and the weather I ask which extravagant and exciting room have they given me this time.

I'm curious how you get to the club floor directly since you need a key card to use the elevator. I suppose you go with the greeter?

Just back from 4 night stay, used one of my diamond suite upgrades and got a great suite in the front tower on 17, had dining room, seperate pantry/kitchen, seperate office, clearly not the normal suite upgrade. Treated very well and becoming my normal place in Singapore over the Conrad.
