Funny, that Hyatt would advertise to discover the Andaz on their own website, when it is still far from being ready...

Talking to several Hyatt Execs, none of them seem very hopeful about this project. In fact, several said they'd be surprised if it ever opens, at least as an Andaz. Definitely disappointing.

Why? Is there that much corruption/malpractice in Palm Springs?

Not sure the reasoning, and while the hotel page is technically still up on Hyatt.com, the property has been removed from the Hyatt Development page.

I have confirmed that all of the management hired for this project including the general manager and sales team were released from their positions in December.

We regularly go to PS and projects in general seem to take forever there for whatever reason....just look at how long the crappy mall stood virtually empty in downtown as an eyesore and how long it took to build what is there now. The Andaz project site seems to have been doomed from the beginning. There’s been talk of various hotels coming to town like a Virgin Hotel, aloft, etc, etc, and nothing ever gets done. I’m surprised the Kimpton actually got built!

large majority of local voters want slow growth & low density, caring not an iota about jobs & a booming economy because they’re already retired & wealthy. local elected officials are responsive to these concerns by putting new projects through never-ending review & approvals processes and by requiring expensive set-asides like free public parking to secure required zoning waivers. in that environment, it’s just not profitable fast enough for capital to want to invest.

Thanks for this!

it doesn't mention any new proposed opening date, but assume it would be mid 2021 earliest.

Usually when new investors come in they like to bring in different management companies and brands - hopefully this opens as an Andaz.
