What we have here is a failure to communicate.
Since newly leased planes are said to be currently moving to the American routes, I wanted to know if there were any new routes that had received newly leased planes.
It was a rhetorical question---I am pretty sure I know the answer.

AI 106
Hello,
I am booked on first class next month on AI 106 between EWR and DEL. Is this the new configuration? I have an option to change to JFK-BOM. Any advice would help.
Thanks!

Look at the F/J seat map for your flight and compare against the wiki in this post. That would tell you what to expect.

still unclear as to how the first class seat style is on AI 106 which is a 777-300R with 4 F seats while AI 116 which is also 777-300T has 8 F seats. I’m currently booked on AI 106 but can change to AI 116 although that would require me to change airports from LGA to JFk with a 4 hr layover. Any advise from AI experts would be greatly appreciated. I am an AC Gold and am using points for this trip. Thanks!

Anyone know what happened to the 3 ex-SQ 77Ws that Air India was planning to lease?
There's news about this from July 2023, but haven't seen much since then. The EY and SQ aircraft were announced at the same time, but they only have the 6 ex-EY aircraft.

AI 162 LHR-DEL has had an aircraft swap from a 787 to an AI legacy 777 (angled flat seats) effective Aug 1st. I'm booked to fly in mid August, and am most upset. The 787s are shabby, but at least they have a very comfortable flat bed.
From Sep 1, the route will be operated by the A350, so why mess things up by operating decrepit equipment for a month ? What on earth is happening to AI? They've lost their marbles. No professionalism at all despite almost 3 years of Tata ownership.

I think given that there's major shortage with components (and other general equipment) it may just be likely that an unexpected extra 787 is out of service.
Alternatively, they are expecting higher than normal demand for that month so they're replacing the 256-seat 788 with a 342-seat 77W (FYI the AI 359 carries 316 pax).
