Regent Phu Quoc [Master Thread]
Creating a dedicated thread for Regent Phu Quoc, the next opening in the Regent portfolio and the eighth hotel in its estate. This was a legacy signing from the Formosa days that IHG inherited in the 2018 acquisition, but it will be IHG's first 'clean sheet' Regent launch and as such will properly feature all the new brand hallmarks, signature services and concepts from the get-go. Shanghai is the only property that currently features the new logo and brand experience, but the plan is to bring the Chongqing hotel into the fold in the next few weeks/months.
This is an all-suite-and-villas property, available for booking from August 16th, 2021. The entry-level room, a king ocean view suite [78 square meters], starts from just shy of 400 USD. For some perspective, the InterContinental Long Beach immediately adjacent is offering rooms from 142 USD.

As Regent only offer a one level upgrade for RA’s then I wouldn’t be too optimistic about an upgrade as Spire Amb. They might but you can’t be certain of it unless you email the hotel and ask .
Booking a higher level room at the IC should get you a suite

The hotel is now open as per today's announcement from IHG. Beautiful property, and one I will definitely check out if/when travel takes me back to Vietnam.

I remember watching them building this when staying at the IC for a couple of weeks back in 1018 or 19. I could not believe there was market space for both properties in such a relatively small footprint and sector. Even understanding some of the other large properties and casino based locations there.
There was a lot of criticism about language and service levels regarding the IC prior to our stay and language wise some of that was probably warranted, certainly not service wise for us, we were treated fantastically. But I do wonder how they might mitigate that with a similar sized property only next door.
Regular visitor to Vietnam and love the country. Phu Quoc is certainly worth a visit but held a good deal less appeal than the country in the main. Interesting but not life changing. The IC itself I enjoyed but others it seems a lot less so. The beach line was heavily plastic littered. To the point were I suggested to the GM that they create an initiative engaging motivated guests to do a early morning beach comb in exchange for something (spa or dining discount etc) .... they were considering it in fact.
I struggle to see (at this point) what the Regent might have bar a higher thread count and dining outlets. that would differentiate it. That said the images look good.

We are currently here staying in a Terrace Villa. Resort, Villas, Service and Food are stunning. We saw only a few other people around but we are so happy to be here. It is quiet, relaxing and very peaceful. Service by ever staff member is very good!

Also (just my curiosity) how are finding the island compared to the more traditional Vietnam locations?
Just flashing back and nothing to do with me but the prison and bee farm are definitely worth a visit. And also one trek out the hotel will almost certainly offer which was very good is a day tour (taking in the bee farm) in an old army jeep that takes you off road and all sorts of places. That was a day well spent.

Encouraging that they have addressed the service issues it's neighbour faced. And how are you finding the language issues? We saw some issues (easily manageable) but they were frustrating many on here and at the location.

We also noticed yesterday that they have a rooftop pool at Fu Bar next to the club lounge. The sunset here is amazing!

Anyone have any idea what the Regent Club is at this property? It appears to be a level of service, rather than a room type. We have a four night stay in an Ocean View Suite using Chase Reward Night credits. Assuming it's worthwhile, can one upgrade to Regent Club from a free night? Am Platinum, again, through the credit card.

• Complimentary private roundtrip airport transfers
• 24-hour butler service and private check-in and out
• Complimentary alcoholic beverages and bespoke delicacies throughout the day
• Daily activities (masterclasses, degustation’s, local crafts)
• Regent Club Library with curated literature and periodicals
• Regent Club Pantry with gourmet bites and private chef
• Regent Club Studio for daily curated activities and pop-up events
• Olympic-size rooftop infinity pool
Don’t expect too much from Platinum status, which basically means nothing at Six Senses, Regent, InterContinental and Kimpton properties.

Looks like we are planning for the winter break (4 nights) at the new Regent. We may book 2 rooms (all suites) on points and pay for a 3rd room that would allow an upgrade to either the sky pool villa or the terrace pool villa. I assume that the sky pool villa has a more panoramic view and the terrace pool villa is lower down to the lagoon side of things. Any feedback? Points redemption doesn't seem too bad.
