Rewards Club at Kimpton Hotels Experience Thread 2023

This thread is about the experience in Hotels of the Kimpton Chain according to your Rewards Club Status. Usually this would include Kimpton Hotels as well. However, Rewards Club Diamond Members receive additional amenities as Kimpton Hotels, which are listed in the Experience IHG Rewards Club section and include

Inner Circle Amenity (InnerCircle only)
Complimentary Chef's Taste7 (InnerCircle only)
Raid the Bar
$30 In-Room Spa Credit

In so far and to welcome Kimpton Hotels in the iHG forum, we have decided to have its own experience thread and also created a different template,

How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the post

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments.

4. We kindly ask you to limit the number of pictures.

Maintenance Schedule
Links to reports between January 2021 and March 2021 will be deleted after April 01, 2023 --> December 28, 2023

With this approach I hope to get a balance between the requests to have also older post in this thread and those requesting only to have newer up-to-date posts.

Happy- made very good use of the Diamond benefits and social password

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard two queen, Not aware of an upgrade but received highest floor- 8th floor

How was your complimentary welcome amenity?
Did not receive any complimentary welcome amenity

How are the rooms?
Kimpton standard- good. But find the decor here eclectic in a non-cohesive way. Bathroom very nice with Atelier Bloem toiletries.

What was good and what was bad?
Diamond breakfast-brunch was excellent. Served 9-2pm.. Nice to see a real social hour return from 5-6 with variety of wines .Secret password gift:4 free drink coupons. Evening cocoa bar and morning coffee bar. Pet friendly with no additional pet fees.

Only bad was no recognition via welcome amenity.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Very good value between Diamond breakfast, social hour, cocoa and coffee bars, no pet fees and free drink coupons!

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked the standard room, given poolside bungalow (highest category room)

How are the rooms?

Well appointed. The ground level pool is small and the rooms are sort of awkward in design. Bungalow has three floors with a small spiral staircase, 2 bathrooms, ground level patio and two balconies. Most of the specialty rooms are in the older portion of the property

How was your complimentary welcome amenity?

Booked at the last minute with points and showed up an hour later. They gave me my welcome amenity at check in.

Chose Diamond Breakfast. Resaturant is okay - nothing to brag about.

What was good and what was bad?
Bad:
- When I called prior to my arrival to ask for about an upgrade and room readiness timeframe, they told me the hotel was sold out (despite 2 rooms being available online).

- No views

- Front Desk not aware of Chef's Taste for ICs

- Hotel has different phases of design. Older designed rooms are closer to 7th street. Newer ones are closer to 6th.

Good:
- Hotel recovered from aforementioned mis-information with a splendid room upgrade

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Yes, would like to try this one again. Still enjoy the Palomar a tad better because of the rooftop views.

Yes

Booked the standard room, given 1 Bedroom Spa Suite

How are the rooms?

Hotel is a converted StayBridge Suites. If youve stayed at a StayBridge before, you will notice some minor elements in the room that they've kept. Nothing bad. Rooms are new but basic in design. No wall design or wallpaper. All eggshell white walls. Room had a decent view of the bridge and the port.

How was your complimentary welcome amenity?

Selected Diamond Breakfast. Resaturant(Peakcock Room) is quite good.

First in room amenity was given to me at check-in because I arrived early. Two cans of beer and some water.

Later on, they surprised me with a slice of cheesecake with a local cocktail and sparkling water. A wonderful treat!

What was good and what was bad?
Bad:
- Nothing

Good:
- Hotel contacted me prior to arrival via text and asked questions to ensure arrival was seamless.
They also scheduled my chef tasting ahead of time. Hotel is walking distance to Burbon Street, but far enoughaway from the fanfare to enjoy peace & quiet.

- Provided early check in at 10:30 without question, which is an Inner Circle benefit.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Yes, I would return. Not a fan of New Orleans, but the hotel is the best in IHG's portfolio in the area. I stayed at the worn down InterContinental down the road prior to my stay here and the Kimpton has them beat.
