"Kawasaki Nikko Hotel is conveniently located only 15 minutes by train from Haneda Airport"
However I prefer to doublecheck with fellow FT'ers

The hotel's website says it's 15 mins to HND from Keikyu (Keihin Kyuko) Kawasaki station. I can only find pdf timetables for services from HND and not to HND.
There is an online timetable but only in Japanese. What time are you planning to be at the airport and is it on a weekday or at weekend?

Hi All,
I'll be heading to HND in July and have a few questions. I did some searching however was unable to find the answers I need...
As my flight will arrive in HND at about 1030PM (DL from DTW) on a weekday, are there any train options? From what I understand, no, however as I cannot find a timetable for the keikyu line on the web I wanted to confirm.
During my last stay in Tokyo, I stayed at the Oakwood in Roppongi Hills. I like the property and want to stay there again if possible, however with a 655AM flight out of HND, I'm not certain this will be doable. Any thoughts?
Where would one recommend I stay that is close enough to a bit of "action" yet a quick train / bus ride to HND?
As I will be heading over for a weekend, I will be traveling light. The wife and my brother will be with me.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

From what I understand, no, however as I cannot find a timetable for the keikyu line on the web I wanted to confirm. You can take both the Keikyu line to Shinagawa or the Monorail to Hamamatsucho at that time...the last Keikyu train to Shinagawa is after midnight. The last monorail is at 12:10 AM with 8 departures between the hours of 11:00 PM and midnight !

First train to Haneda from Shinagawa is at 05:15 AM !

You could do that if you are worried about making your flight !

http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/ is a good source for train info. As stated above, the Keikyu runs to just around midnight. I recently arrived around 11:10 pm and took the 11:30 pm train.

early morning limousine bus to HND from Shinjuku - do they fill up?
Quick question on the "early morning transport to Haneda" topic...
I am on AA's 6:40am departure on a Monday morning. It looks like there is a "limousine bus" service from the Shinjuku area that is scheduled to arrive at the HND international terminal at 5:15am. If I read the schedule correctly, the bus makes some pickups at the Hilton, Keio Plaza, etc. before reaching the pickup point at Shinjuku Station at 4:45am.
I am staying near Shinjuku station and would like to get the bus there at 4:45am. But I am a bit concerned that the bus might fill up - I have taken it from hotels before and the hotels make reservations (iirc). Does anyone have any experience on whether the (early morning) bus is sometimes full before it reaches the Shinjuku station pickup point? Or is there some way to make a reservation if not catching the bus from a hotel?
Thanks!

The ticket office is right next to where the busses depart (roughly around bus stop #21 on the west side of Shinjuku station). This seems like a very small risk. How about stopping by the day before and buying your ticket in advance? Never done this so I don't know if they sell tickets for specific rides. But if they do, and IF -- this is a fairly big IF -- there is someone there who understands enough English to get the idea, that would solve the problem.
I think the reason for the hotel "reservation" is simply that without it, the bus skips the hotel.

You might be able to make a reservation by calling Limousine Bus. I think that I did it once, but it is possible that they told me to call the hotel where I catch the bus.
But I think it is highly unlikely that the bus will be full. It's more likely that there will be 6-8 people on board.

Just for comparisons sake: Departed Japan from HND in the evening. It was easy to reach the terminal with little fuss or time from Shibuya area in about 40 minutes (including the wait for train at Shinagawa). Check-in was fast as were security/emigration procedures ! The lounge at HND was huge and the food/beverage offering blew NRT lounge out of the water. All in all I wasn't too jet lagged with this late evening departure form HND.

Thanks, Richard and gnaget. In the end, I went to Haneda the night before and hung out in the lounge. I had some work to get caught up on anyway, and it just helped me sleep better on the flight.
I had gone to the pickup point for the Haneda buses (stop 24) and the only people around there were the luggage porters. There was a telephone number, but I figured the chances of my language working on the call were slim. I did not look for a ticket office - I'll check that out the next time I am in Shinjuku.
Thanks again!
