International to Domestic to International Connections through FUK and NRT

I have a potential trip coming up that goes from:

TPE-FUK (BR) 2 hour 10 minute connection in FUK
FUK-NRT (NH) 1 hour 35 minute connection in NRT
NRT-SFO (NH) destination

Do I clear customs in FUK to get onto the NRT. Is there enough time with checked bags?

And if I clear customs in FUK and recheck my tagged bags, do I need to reclaim in NRT?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

(reasoning for this routing because there are no award seats on the nonstop TPE to NRT)

Yes, and yes. You'll need to change terminals at FUK, but 2 hours is plenty of time to pick up your luggage, ride the bus to the domestic terminals, and check in.

No; NH will tag your baggage on to SFO.

Thanks. Do i need to drag my bags from terminal to terminal or is there a recheck right outside customs? I think the bags will be tagged all the way to SFO since it is on one star alliance ticket.

Although I have flew in and out of FUK, I never done international to domestic connection at FUK. I saw few different websites and none mention about domestic re-check counter at international arrival area.

I am sure BR at TPE will able to tag your bags all the way to SFO, but at FUK I am afraid that you may have to drag your bags with you and take free transfer bus from international terminal to domestic terminal at FUK then drop off your bags at domestic check-in at domestic terminal. At FUK your bags should be checked all the way to SFO, where you do not have to deal with checked bags at NRT.

However, there was a post previously about traveling HND-(NH)-KMQ-(BR)-TPE on an award ticket. Although NH and BR are Star Alliance, OP has found that there is no domestic to international interline at KMQ. Where OP had to collect baggage at KMQ and re-check again with BR at KMQ. NH at HND could not tag a bag all the way to TPE.

I understand KMQ is very small airport, but FUK is fair size airport so there should not be situation like that at FUK. Little worried that ANA website only talks about domestic-international transfer at NRT, HND, KIX, and NGO, but nothing about FUK. Hope BR at TPE will able to least tag your bag all the way to SFO.

I know you are flying BR to NH at FUK, but JAL website indicates to take free terminal transfer bus and head to domestic terminal then check-in at domestic terminal. Which indicates to me that JAL does not have domestic re-check counter at international arrival at FUK. It is hard to believe that ANA has domestic re-check counter at international arrival where JAL does not.

May be somebody with actual international to domestic transfer at FUK will chime in.

Sorry, you will have to schlep your bags over to the domestic terminals on the free bus (which is located just outside customs). It's how they roll in FUK !

I should note that the KMQ situation is probably not one they thought of when the airport was built- the NH gate agent even looked at me like I had sprouted another head when they saw that I was transiting through KMQ, then hurriedly tried to reassure me that I had plenty of time despite the lack of interline. Unfortunately, the BR counter doesn't open until 2 hours prior so I had to come back from Komatsu itself an hour prior to departure. I imagine this isn't an issue with an airport that has international flights leaving all the time.
