BTW - I know our trip was kind of north (around the arctic circle) - but it still reads east ---> west going to Tokyo in terms of jet lag - and west ---> east coming home. I probably messed up some of this (still not over jet lag!) - but you probably get the idea ). Robyn

Just curious. If you travel from the east coast of the US to Tokyo going basically east through Europe - instead of west - does the jet lag upon arrival read west ---> east instead of east ---> west. IOW - do you wind up waking up really late - as opposed to really early? On my part - I prefer east ---> west jet lag on a trip. I hate trying to kick myself out of bed at 11 am when I should be out and about and exploring.

<rofl>. I'm just glad that all my business travel - when I was working - wasn't more than 3 time zones more or less coming or going. If I had to do 10+ on a regular basis - I don't know what I'd do!
When we arrived home on Saturday - someone on our plane said "you probably don't know *where* you are". I said "I know *where* I am - but I don't know *when* I am".
You take care and catch some sleep whenever and wherever possible. Robyn

Starwood seems to convert best to UA in terms of the carriers I'm familiar with. Go to the Starwood forum here and check on restrictions in terms of moving Starwood points to other peoples' FF accounts.
UA partners with ANA (look at the UA website). Seems that you can get decent FC availability on ANA through the UA website for 135k miles per ticket. I don't have a clue about the airline - equipment - or anything else. Best to check on the UA/ANA forums here. Robyn

I would describe my jet lag as mild and chronic rather than severe and acute so it actually doesn't bother me much. Six days at home in the last 6 months and rarely more than 4 or 5 days without a flight. I catch up on sleep on the airplane, where I seem to sleep like a baby.
On my part - I couldn't do it without becoming totally unglued.
Do you at least get enough points/miles to get flat beds or the seats of your choice on long haul flights most of the time? Being a stomach/side sleeper - I really like the flat beds. My husband is a back sleeper - and seems to prefer the seats that are more like recliners than flat beds.
And I hope during your few days at home - that you have a spouse/SO or perhaps mother to take care of you - cater to you - coddle you. I know I couldn't do what you're doing even when I was young - and I certainly couldn't do it now. The last times I did anything remotely similar were when my late mother and mother-in-law were sick/dying - and we had to drive hundreds of miles back and forth to deal with the situations many many times. No fun. Robyn

Not really a road warrior since I have a lot of control over my schedule. The folks who have to travel constantly for work with full schedules are the ones who have it rough.
That said, sometimes I do wish I could just stop moving and stay in once place for a few months. Probably just poor planning on my part.

No. There isn't one. Other than flying, making purchases with a Chase credit card is the only other way to get 1 mi/$ or more (without losing value from another program)
If, however, you want a C/F award to NRT and you don't mind paying fuel surcharge (~$700/ticket), you can deposit those SPG points into NH. Can also deposit to AA or JL. DL is obviously not a good deal.

Well actually it's pretty pleasant. Mostly I'm able to fly F in LH, NH, SQ, TG, etc. I have friends and family everywhere and a couple of residences scattered around so I rarely stay in hotels except at resorts. My wife travels with me a lot and I schedule in a lot of time at some pretty nice places.
