House 88

You can find a description of this new house released yesterday on klm.com under corporate and then press releases along with a picture. It was released yesterday.

No, I didn't ask for the second one. There was an old lady on the flight, accompanied by her even older lady mother, and they had not been seated together. C class was completely full (except for one broken seat) and the "gentleman" (who I strongly suspect was OpUpped) next to the old lady refused to swap seats, so I obliged and played musical chairs. The result was a wink from the FA and an extra house.

It is of course not possible to tell with 100% certainty, but there are lots of clues that in combination may strongly suggest that somebody is an OpUp. The most clear-cut cases are those who are escorted into the WBC cabin after departure by the purser, with expressions of hysterical glee on their faces. Otherwise one must look at factors such complete unfamiliarity with the cabin and procedures, e.g. not knowing where to plug in the earphone, how to operate the seat controls, where to find the tray table or video screen or even how to open the lavatory door; the look of surprise upon being handed the breakfast order form; etc. Not conclusive evidence, it could be a first-time KL WBC flyer after all. Other clues are a tendency to try, test and sample everything, more than once if possible ("I've got to make the most of this opportunity!"); looking out of place (subjective, I admit it); carry-ons (most frequent premium class flyers do not stuff their handluggage in multi-colored PVC laundry bags); etc. In the case of Dutchmen I will confess to also listening to accent and vocabulary, although the days are long gone that one only heard Algemeen Beschaafd Nederlands up front. Nowadays even pimps and drugdealers jet around the world in style.

Indeed!
On my last two night flights I have had ill-raised kids behind me. One that thought the aisle was a kind of racing track and the other that just loved to bang those little closets on the upperdeck and proceeded to kick my chair during the night.
I hit him with those stick-like pillows but should have inserted a water bottle or something hard first.

Anyway, back on topic, yes house 88 is now available and I find it quite cute actually!

I guess it is, but it is not to the same scale as most other houses, and therefore looks a bit out of place if you line 'm up.

You're right.
But just as charming as looking from a boat on the canals at the Amsterdam houses!

I have No. 64, so this now means only 87 more to complete my collection.

Last time I did that was April 12, 1975, the day of the Nieuwmarktrellen. The view was obscured by teargas at times.

Don't despair, most of us started with one house.
