It should be fine. That particular boat to which you refer was a party barge on the river for one evening organized by locals for locals in 2001. Apparently, tourists are left alone if respectful of customs. The tour company I am going with has been doing this trip to Egypt for many years. In fact I wanted to go with this group about 10 years ago. There are 2 tours a year now. It is a 7 day Nile River cruise along with all the other tour boats, although this one is very special. It is an historic paddlewheeler from the early part of the 20th Century. I am not worried, but thank you for your concern.
