The stay will be credited to the year in which it began and the nights will credit to the year in which each one of them falls.
The spend will count towards the year in which the member checks-out. (per Post #30)
Example:
A 3-night eligible stay, check in December 30, 2023 - check out January 2, 2024, will credit as follows:

How does a stay spanning across two membership years count towards requalification
Terribly sorry if this is already answered somewhere but I really could not find it. I will have a stay of five nights checking in 28/12/2021 and checking out 2/1/2022. How many nights will I collect towards status requalification for 2022? Will I receive all five nights for 2021 to qualify for 2022, all five nights only in 2022 towards 2023 requalification or will they split to give me the four nights starting in the old year and one night starting in the new year (or three nights "completed" in the old year and two for the next)?

are you certain of this? I was under the impression that when crediting nights it's based upon the first night stayed.

December 31 stay -- which status year does it count towards?
I'll be in a position to stay exactly 50 nights in 2021 to retain platinum. I anticipate having a stay over the holidays where I check in on 12/31/21 and check out on 1/1/22. Does this night count towards my 2021 total or is it the first night of my 2022 total?

One needs the actual 50 nights for the Annual Choice Benefit.

Question about which year Bonvoy spend will post to
I have a stay Dec 26-Jan 2 of this year. Will the spend from 12/26-EOY post for the 2021 elite qualifying year or does it all get lumped to 2022 because I check out then? I am right up against the border of Ambassador spend (already over 100 nights), just want to make sure I make it and don't come up just shy because I assumed spend would post and it doesn't. Thx!

Edit: On reflection, I was thinking about the nights. I have never attained and will never attain Marriott Bonv°y Ambassador Elite status.

Actually, this question has come up before, and I’m pretty sure the Lurkers confirmed that the spend will be attributed to the new year if the stay extends into it. Question was asked by someone else who was also trying to qualify for Amb and needed his spend in the current year.
I had a quick look and couldn’t find the thread/post so I thought the Lurkers might chime in.

The appropriate nights are supposed to automatically be assigned to 2021. I don't think there's a similar method of allocating $$$, in which case it would all apply to 2022.
Can you check out on December 31st and move to a different hotel? That's the only safe option.

I think we must give some kudos to the OP for finding a nuance to this troublesome date that stumps us.
