BKK Hotels?
I know there are TONS of hotels in BKK but I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation? I am planing a mileage run to BKK in January. Not really a mileage run as I am spending two nights in the city, so want to be somewhere downtown...
Many thanks!

For Bangkok, the cheapest room rates are always obtained through a consolidator. There are several with webpages.
I have used http://www.thaiconnections.com/ , and have been very pleased. (I am not affiliated with them in any way.) This outfit is run by a British expat living in Bangkok. After substantial research, I determined that they generally had the best rates. I must admit that I was a little nervous, but everything worked out great.
In Bangkok, I have stayed at the Grand China Princess. It is a very affordable hotel located in the Chinatown section of Bangkok. It is not too far from the river, and the major sights there. It was a clean hotel, although not as fancy as a luxury hotel. I would compare it to a Clarion. (I usually go for a blend of quality and value.)

I am booking my hotel stay in BKK via www.asia-discovery.com ... specifically, the Ambassador Hotel. It looks nice and I guess you can get away with the cheapest room -- 1050 baht/ night. However, if you prefer non-smoking rooms like I do, then a tower wing room will cost you 1400 baht/night.
