AA Plat status via the "challenge"

Ok, so I enrolled in the AA challenge for Plat status. I'm going on ORD-CDG and ORD-NRT. I'll complete the challenge on 1-20-02. So, If I read this right, will I have plat status through the end of 02 or 03?

Goldfishhh -- You will have Platinum status through February, 2003 (that is if you don't requalify next year).

You'll have it through '03. If you had done the challenge after July 15th, you'd have it through '04.

With all due respect, I think you're incorrect suggesting that his/her status will last through the whole 2003.

It's the start date, not the completion date, that determines how long your new status will last.

If Goldfishhh starts his/her challenge in 2001 (I presume, November or December), here's what happens. Challenge started in the second half of the year earns new status through the end of current membership year and for the whole next membership year (2002 membership year lasts through February, 2003).

Pretty much the same scenario if Goldfishhh starts his/her challenge in January 2002. Challenge started in the first half of the year (through June 1) earns new status just through the end of then current membership year, thus lasting through Fenruary, 2003 as well.

If he/she started Platinum challenge on June 16 next year or later, then the status would last through the 2003 membership year, ending in February 2004.

For additional information see AAdvantage Gold and Platinum Challenges section of FewMiles' Unofficial Guide to American Airlines AAdvantage.

Eugene,

You're completely correct, so I guess I should have clarified what I meant as "through Feb '03" and through "Feb '04.

Seasons greetings to you as well, 777Brit!

Nope, I don't work for AAdvantage, and yes, I would love some bonus miles myself! Santa, hope you are reading this thread!
