How do you Book?
Hey all I live in dallas and fly AA. Is it better to book AA.com or use one of the other booking web sites. Do you still get double miles for being platinum if you book a trip from expedia or something else? I almost 99% book my trips from AA.com with web specials. I want to do several milage runs this year just dont know whats the best way to book the trip. Any help is appreciated

Well I book on AA most of the time, but on complex trips or runs involving other airlines I use other web sites.
You may want to comparison shop and yes you will get your bonus miles if the flight you take is in a valid fare class for miles.
My last run to TPE I booked on expedia because it priced out better than AA and it was worth not getting the booking bonus from AA

Along with bonuses, you get discounts on AA.com using either ONLINE ($10 off) or FLYAA (5 or 10% off, I forget). I don't know when either one expires, but such discounts are recent examples.
Also, if a booking is too complicated, only the first leg seems to be important to get right on AA.com, so do that with something for a return, hopefully in the same fare class, booking only, not ticketing. Then call up AA.com cust svc on the phone (different than regular AA cust svc, you know) and tell them what what legs to add, that you want to change the return to that same day, etc.
I have found this works to still get all the online booking bonuses and discounts that come with booking online.
