mexican miles change
i'm told they changed the conversion rates to miles from kilometers
amex reward ratio is now 1000 points equall 1000 miles (it used to be 1,600).I'm told they made the change without notifying amex.
similar ajdustment to hilton. now 5000 mexican miles equal only 10,000 hilton points. for all those peole like me trying to get the 20,000 hilton points for next to nothing:even if you have some real miles in your account, only the miles portion of the account (no internet bonus points, amex rewards points etc) will transfer to hilton.
This is very misleading if you ask me. Hence, you cannot fly one sky alliance flight to get mexicana miles and then transfer your entire mexicana account to Hitlon-they will only let you tranfer the air miles portion only

ARGHH...
I basically "wasted" a United trip which I had credited to my Frecuenta frequent flyer account in hopes of getting enough miles to transfer to Hilton Honors. I'll never accumulate enough actual flight miles in this program to do me any good. No where was it stated that they had to be actual flight miles to count.

Well, just goes to show you that you can't get something for nothing.
Just think of all the wasted time and all those threads devoted to this topic! I too applied for my Frequenta number, waiting weeks for my snail mail to arrive. I was going to transfer Membership Rewards Miles into it, too. Well, when it does arrive - straight into the circular file!

Gee, and I had just received my calling card which I ordered from a telemarketer in England for a company that is a subsidiary of France Telecom; the card was mailed from Germany, all for miles from a Mexican airline that I want to turn into points with Hilton, an American company.
I'm exhausted just thinking about it, and I haven't even left home. Now it looks like I really won't be leaving home!

Well I guess we all know now that we WILL get the miles.

BTW, you're confusing Miles with Kilometers. 1000 miles=1600 kilometers. So the conversion is (and always was) 1000 AMEX MR points = 1000 miles (=1600 KM).
The HHonors conversion is 5000KM=10,000 HHonors points. 5000KM = 3125 Miles, so nothing has changed.
Mexicana seems to sometimes get its miles and Kilometers confused on its website, but the above is the actual conversion.
That makes Mexicana BY FAR the best airline miles to convert to HHonors points you get around a 60% better conversion!
I'm loving this whole deal!!!!!!
