Transmedia Set to Market Directly to Frequent Flyer Members

Transmedia Network Inc. (NYSE:TMN - news), the leading provider of transaction-based dining rewards programs, announced today that it had reached agreement with SignatureCard, Inc., a subsidiary of GE Financial Assurance, Inc. (GEFA), to terminate SignatureCard's exclusive right to market Transmedia's dining rewards program to the airline industry.

Hopefully this means a few (or a few hundred) new restaurants will be added to the anemic list of participants. Maybe some better management of the program overall!

I read that article, and I still don't understand what that means to the participants of these programs.
