Just CO platinum for the first time this year. was on schedule to make it before the attacks.

I've never played around much with the hotel programs. I belong to Mariott, Holiday Inn and Hilton, but I've never gotten beyond the first tier. But when I've looked at the "elite" levels, I didn't see anything in particular, in terms of perks, to make me want to try to get there? Can anyone tell me just what I'm missing that is so great by not getting farther up the ladder with hotel programs?

Requalified for NW Silver Elite after my Thanksgiving vacation trip to visit my parents.

My father will requalify for NW Silver Elite after his trip to Asia this month. He has like 200 miles to go.

My mother, as usual, is flying on our accumulated mileage.

My biggest status year yet, and I travelled much less:

UA 1K
AA Gold
NW Silver
US Silver (will expire next year)

I am in the great situaation where I can shop for low fares and get upgrades all at the same time, on UA, NW, CO, and AA, not to mention *A and Oneworld.

I am at a UA hub (IAD) but found NW had much better fares recently and started travelling on them. I continue to try to focus my business on UA.

With AA, the last year I was plat and they downgraded me to gold when I stoped flying AA. AA as you know continued all elites for another year, luckily, as I have not set foot on an AA plane in quite a while but still have some status there.

I half expect US to extend me another year although they haven't said they'll do that. I have fallen short on my flying on US because I give a lot of that business to WN. From what is happening on US, I get better service on WN and it's much cheaper.

I don't have any hotel status to speak of.

Prior to participation on FT(2000) I only had Marriott Silver. I should cross over to gold with the new double stay promo.

I have also attained:

DL - GM
Starwood - Gold
Hilton - Gold
Holiday Inn - Gold

My travel has been 75% leisure, so I doubt I can do much better than the above next year. I would prefer to have higher status with Marriott and Starwood even if it means dropping Hilton and HI.
