Yea - I agree something is fishy here. He was "working on some files".. he didn't get those out of his briefcase? I guarantee he knew it was there - at least at that point.

If you are on leg #2, discover the gun, realize what has happened - what would you do? I'm thinking you're screwed - no good way out of this one, so he decided to keep his mouth shut and hope for the best?

And yes - I too am wondering if he's a red-faced member of FT??

The day they question me when I fly into and out of a city in one day is their day from hell.

I still wonder if he was just "testing" the system and/or had a bet with someone that it could be done. If not for the random check, he would have gotten away with it. I bet plenty get through everyday.

I remember there was a newspaper article about a guy who did that. He got through security with a gun, and then turned around to inform airport security about their lapse. He got arrested.

Use a little common sense, and don't deliberately taunt screeners who are worried about their jobs or police/security who are nervous about another hijacking/bombing.

I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the rights of the people by the gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.
