Another good China Eastern sale that helps accumulate a good amount of MQDs at an excellent rate, this time from Los Angeles... Source: My site PremiumCabin.Deals
Odd thing is that the cheap outbound price is via Nanking/Nanjing a city that I last visited in 2007!

I flew a cheap biz class round trip from LAX to BKK via NKG last January. Even though I gave my delta FF number when I checked in at LAX and again when I checked in at BKK, but it never got applied to the flights after the connection in NKG (I didn't earn miles for NKG-BKK nor NKG-LAX even though I was promised by the check-in agent that I would). I've sent my info to Delta twice trying to get my miles but no luck so far.

Also, I'll mention that connecting in NKG sucks. They make all passengers pass through immigration (same line as passengers planning to enter China), pick up their luggage, and check in for the connecting flight as if it is a totally separate ticket. It was a slow process. I was told that isn't the case when connecting at PVG.

Do your DL FF# appear on all of the MU tickets? Having flown JFK-PVG-PEK-PVG-JFK, everything was posted within a couple of days in my DL SM account.

Same case for PVG. Don't know about luggage, didnt check any.

No, the Delta FF number wasn't on the boarding passes for the connecting flights (NKG-BKK and NKG-LAX). The agent said I was good when I checked in but I didn't look carefully at the boarding passes (which in retrospect was a big mistake).

I was told when I checked in that they can transfer your luggage at PVG but not NKG (although I've never done it myself). The check-in agent recommended that I connect in PVG next time even if it costs more.

The business class flights were actually fine. I'd heard some bad things about MU but I had good flights.

EDIT: It took 7 months but Delta finally gave me my miles. I actually earned Delta Silver Status from doing this round-trip just once

Seems that Delta has some huge issues with partner airlines such as MU/AM... My advice, at check-in always triple check that the SM number, if an agent says you are good to go, don't trust them unless your SM is on the BP...
Delta agents at least via Twitter can't access the MU system to add numbers, you need to reach out to MU (which is a pain). Agents on the phone in the US are OK-ish and for seat assignments I've had to use the French site...
Still the hard product is good and the MQDs are great

Yup, same experience at NKG. At least it's not bad as LAX, but dear god transiting through China is such a mix bag

For me. I had I-D on the outbound and D-I on the inbound.

I-D at PVG - arrived from JFK early in the morning - got through immigration fairly quick. Waited for at least 30 minutes for airside transfer to open; once time, I entered through the door, but was not allowed to go up the escalator, and was asked to proceed further ahead, and exited landside on the domestic part of the terminal. Had I known, could have done all of that without the waiting around.

D-I at PVG - departed (PEK) and arrived (PVG), both at remote gates. Clear instructions on the floor guiding pax for international transfer. Exited at immigration processing, then through security.

Still there. Looking at one now on the MU website. Pricing for MU doesn't always come through on other engines. Ie flights.google.com frequently comes back as "check price"

im on lax-nkg-bkk on MU this Wednesday. Im kind of concerned about that connection at NKG. Ive read about that weird process they make you go through. I have a 3 hour layover and am now wondering if thats enough time?? Do they still keep your passport?

thanks for the help!

When I connected at NKG last January they routed everyone through immigration (same line for connecting passengers and people staying in China). At immigration they kept my passport and made me wait until everyone from my flight was done with immigration. Then someone took all of the passports of the connecting passengers and escorted us all to baggage claim. After we all got our bags they they escorted us all past customs and over to the check-in counters to check into our next flight (while still keeping our passports). After everyone was checked in they escorted us all to security and immigration. After we passed through that they gave us our passports back. I'd say the process took about 90 minutes. Being a business class passenger really didn't help at all because we had to wait for all passengers at every step of the process.

I think three hours is enough time. I wouldn't book anything with less than a three hour layover though.
