The event was a bit of a disappointment actually. There were mainly just a group of travel agents for each of the ski resorts offering brochures and some merchandise.

I spent most of the evening in the lobby bar with a few mates, so it was still a good evening! ^

Well I hope you enjoyed the evening, with the serious skiers getting holiday ideas and the points collectors some FF points

I had my first weekend down at Thredbo this year, doing all the paperwork, getting fitted out with this year's root suit (aka instructor's uniform) and doing some runs down the mountain. For those of you interested, the conditions are not too bad for this time of the season. The upper parts of the mountain have better cover than this time last year but the lower runs have less cover. If you're heading up to Thredbo soon, I recommend you ski up at Antons, the Basin and Merritts (although High Noon is not bad either). If you want to fly, Rex has some introductory specials for Sydney-Cooma flights - $129 each way. Rex are sponsoring the 97.7 Snow FM snow reports this year, so you hear about the special fares quite regularly.

Because I was running late for a meeting, all I did was walk up to the entry, filled in 6 forms ( ) with the FF details (myself, fiance and four friends) and then walked out.

Well, we drove into the Hilton driveway right behind IainF, so after they'd organised the valet parking, we went straight to the Meeting Room level. I was expecting it to be in the main Ballroom (where previous QF function had been); but it was in one of the smaller rooms. Rocked up to the desk and spied Bundy Bear sitting down waiting for us.

So the four of us got 1K FF points and then wandered around collecting brochures. The QF WP's talked to the guys from Big White (Canada) for a while [as this is our number 1 choice] then we caught up with IainF and BundyBear for a chat near the Japan stand.

Perhaps it was also an underwhelming experience (from an expectational point of view) - but we got what we wanted. I'd tied the FT tag from my belt, expecting bravoecho to spy it, but now I understand why he didn't.

Sorry we missed you AndersB, as after the event, we went up and checked in (got an upgrade to an Exec Floor room, free drink vouchers because the Club Room was just closing) and a 2 for 1 buffet feast courtesy of my Premium Club card.

QF WP,

was there about 5:15pm. I was fitting it in between two client meetings (you know what this time of year is like ) so I had a quick look around for you but had to run.

My recommendation is Silver Star (same owners as Big White). We first went there in 1992 and it has got better and better every year.

You'll love the twin locator approach into Kelowna. They virtually pick a whole in the cloud and dive for the strip!!!

Ah, we only arrived at 6pm, as we went home to feed our dog so we didn't have to kennel her (or bring over the M-i-L) for the night.

That's what the rep said as well!! We might do 3 days at one, then 4 at the other.

Yes, we'll be flying YVR/YLW, looks like Alaskan, I think - so can credit my NorthWest Plat account.

You can buy dual mountain passes (like Whistler/Blackcomb though not as close together).

If you really want to be extravagent, helicopter transfers between the two can be arranged ^ ^

No points here

Well done bravoecho. I assume you went to the Brisbane show. I attended the Melbourne effort held several days before Brisbane. It occurs to me I have no proof I attended and am unlikely to get a result if they do not post.
