Thus $200 spend on a 2 night stay will yield the following:
FT special triple points on base starpoints = 1200
SPG promo of doubling 2 night stay = 800
elite bonus = 200
Thus we should have 2200 correct?
Count the platinum amenity for 500 more to get to 2700?

2 nights * $100/night = $200
- $200 = 400 base Starpoints
- Elite bonus = 200 Starpoints
- Double for 2 night stay [brings the stay to double, not another 2X] 400 * 1 = 400 Starpoints
- Triple for FT promo [brings the stay to triple, not another 3X] 400 * 2 = 800 Starpoints
- SPG Amex at SPG property 2 * 200 = 400 Starpoints
- Plat amenity = 500 Starpoints
400 + 200 + 400 + 800 + 400 + 500 = 2700 Starpoints

No, your points are tripled meaning that the total points is triple what you would normally get. As such the 1200 above becomes 800.
Why do y'all make it so complicated. The Elite bonus is simply 1 extra Starpoint per dollar.

The elite bonus is 1 point per ELIGIBLE dollar spent. I usually think of it that way as you put it but it is actually just a 50% of whatever base starpoints you earn. I agree more complicated but it is SPG's formula not mine.
It is these promo's when running concurrently that are tough. I'm thinking I'm getting base starpoints two times when in reality I'm only getting it once. Thanks for both of my above examples. Great meeting you by the way.
