Combining Award Stay and Paid Stay and Getting Stay Credit
I know there are probably threads on this already, and I tried using the search tools and Google, but I still can't research a clear answer to this question: If I have an award stay and a paid stay booked back-to-back, do I receive a stay credit for the paid room? (Yes, I am more than aware Points and C+P do not earn stays)
I'm booking my travel for Memorial Day, but ran into trouble trying to book the entire thing on free nights. So I had to book one night with cash.
Friday, 28: AWARD
Saturday, 29: CASH
Sunday, 30: AWARD
So would I receive a stay for the 29th, or will Starwood's computer system not like this? I would prefer to pay cash for the 28th to ensure no problems, but there is no points availability for the 29th. I know I could probably call Platinum Concierge to fix my stay credits if there is trouble in the future.
Thanks,
Jason

Yes. You'll get stay credit because of the paid portion. You'll get night credit for that 1 paid night. If you're lucky, you might get additional credits for the other nights, but you're not supposed to. (And if you do, don't bank entirely on the extra credits for elite qualification since it's possible that they could be taken away in an audit.)
Yes, there are other threads about this.

Almost all of our multi-night stays are one paid night and the rest on points or C+P. The stay has always gotten credited correctly.

I know it's been discussed numerous times in other threads, but I couldn't find a thread where it is the primary topic.
It is brought up and addressed around post 20 of this FAQ, though:

Never had a problem here as well. In fact, the only errors have been on the generous side (with the C&P/Point nights counting towards night credit!)
