Starwood points for wedding at St. Regis Singapore?
Hey all,
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find anything specific to the St. Regis Singapore. I'll potentially be getting married at this property in 2011 and was wondering if anybody knew if they give starwood points for wedding dinners? I know the Preferred Planner program exists, but from my understanding it is only for properties within the USA/Canada region. Couldn't find any info regarding elsewhere.
Thanks for any help

Don't know what the official policy is (William? Thyetus?), but negotiate it. They want your business.

Welcome to FT Arrow29. I think you could potentially get points for the wedding but do you want to live with the regret of not booking somewhere else once the hotel screws up your wedding for you (like maybe double booking you).
Read the St Regis Singapore thread and make your own decisions.

If it is any guide, I held my wedding at the Sheraton Krabi and I only received Preferred Planner credit rather than regular SPG Credit for all wedding related costs and rooms booked (other than our personal room). Ultimately the venue and timing were more important to me than the points so it wasn't a deal breaker.

My cousin just had his daughter's wedding at a Westin, and negotiated for a boatload of SPG points.

Let me clarify that Starwood Preferred Planner isn't targetted at just one particular region or country.
Therefore I would recommend writing in to them if you are keen in receiving Starpoints for the event planning portion of your wedding.

My son got married at the King Edward in Toronto--I got some points as a preferred planner but not the 3 points per dollar that I got used to. The hotel was great and the event was flawless!! Thanks to the staff!!!

negotiate with the property....i managed to get a great haul of points when my cousin got married at a hilton property a couple of years ago....hilton gave me a couple of points earning options but i ignored them & spoke with the reservation manager at the property....i managed to get a much better result through this route....

Just remember one thing...
Points = money, for you but for the hotel as well since they do not get them for free. So if you ask for a lot of points and get them, more than likely the hotel has built in the cost of those points in the the price they give you for the wedding dinner
