Incident at a hotel
I like points and on rare occasions have felt they were appropriate. However I also feel sometimes the offering of points cheapens my raising an issue. Many hotels go above and beyond and I don't sweat the small stuff. Things I point out sometimes are because I think the hotel would like to know. Just my thought.

What if the hotel checked the card lock record; and discovered the housekeeper in this case was 'male'?
Now, THAT would be a mystery worthy of three pages of speculation and commentary...
Otherwise, it's just a simple case of someone forgetting to flush a toilet that has been used thousands of times. Mrs. Flews assures me the person in question probably wasn't even sitting on the toilet.
Take the points and run.
Cheers,

The housekeeper used the bathroom in my room. How many points should I get for this?
Or
The housekeeper used my the bathroom in my room and forgot to flush. Now, how many more points should I get?
It's all about points.

I would have just flushed it and moved on. If the housekeeper needed to use the toilet, I would be fine with it. I'm sure thousands of asses touched the seat before mine. I'm also sure housekeeping does number 1 and number 2 in the room toilets on occassion as well, and if something doesn't make it down the drain... seriously, I can just reflush with little or no effort. I don't think it was done maliciously and respect to someone's sense of modesty and privacy would keep me from even mentioning it.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.
Flyertalk is a forum where we can talk about anything. If you don't like what's on here then you are in the wrong place.
Regarding the issue, it's not about any nogotiating skills, I think you need to visit your eye doctor because it wasn't about the 3K points, it was about not getting the 1K extra points.
If you don't have anything better to say, then it's better to say nothing.

You are asking whether you are entitled to 3k or 4k in points? So, how is it not about points? If you thought 3k was not sufficient, you should have asked for more points. Pretty straightforward.

If they offered you 4k and only posted 3k, call them up and explain the situation. Seems like a no brainer. Otherwise, you are leaving 1,000 points on the table.

You did not explain that on your original post. You said it sb 4k and you got 3k. That was the reason for my original post.

Spoke with the front desk manager and he offered points for the incident where he said "you can get a night at another hotel". The hotel is a Cat. 2 and the incident was on a weekday so that makes it 4K points, I got 3K points. Should I make a fuss that I didn't get the extra 1K points? Is the 3K points actually good enough for an incident like this?

If you have your ambassador handling it, then why the post? If people told you not to make a fuss would you call your ambassador back and tell them to drop the issue? I am guessing no. If so, that seems to be a hassle too. Your "logic" does not make any sense.

Seriously? I hope you never have to experience anything truly horrific.
I'm clearly in the minority here, but given that nothing was out of place, I would assume that the housekeeper cleaned my room as requested, had an urgent situation requiring use of the toilet, and the tampon didn't get flushed as she expected. I would imagine how horrified she would be to know that it remained.
She was on her period (with all that comes with that), probably in a hurry, and made a mistake. We all occasionally make mistakes in such situations. I would flush it and move on.
These women work very hard for little pay. Telling management would likely result in consequences I personally would hate to be responsible for.

I have no idea how you got that. It seems pretty clear. Agent says one night stay, I got 3K, Should've been 4K. Worth the fuss or not?
It seems everyone got it except you.
Why not check my 2nd post in this thread. I decided then to notify my ambassador.

Sorry, I just don't like when people treat the hotel staff like their feelings don't matter. I expect that most women have a sense of privacy about such things, you just don't seem to care...seriously, all you had to do was flush it. And while I prefer to see nothing in my toilet when I book a room, stuff happens....and if its not meant to be malicious....flush happens. ^
