What's a better deal?

In your opinion which is a better deal?

I'm going to book the Sheraton Krabi Beach, Thailand for five nights. They're offering cash and points At 3500 + $55 or The 5th night free option for 28000

Thanks for your feed back!

Do the 5th night free, no question. Otherwise you're paying $275 to "save" 10,500 points...not a good CPP.

As always, there are many other factors that go into a decision - points balance, upcoming travel, etc. In the absence of other factors, the points are probably the better choice. But if you have a big trip coming up, for example, and can redeem points at a very attractive rate, and burning points here would leave you short, then the cash option is better.

But with the recent adjustment/devaluation of the C&P program, points vs. C&P is a about a wash on a per night basis. So when you can get the 5th night free on points, it is generally a better choice.

Not only 5th night free, but I would book a specialty room category for the few extra points, if you can spare them. The lead in rooms are very average, and dark, in my opinion.

Is it more complex than a spreadsheet? If so, are you prepared to share?

Another factor here is Tax. So it's not just $275... It's $275 + tax. That could be another $50. $325 for 10,500 points is a very good ratio.
