Transport Venice Airport to Danieli

Does anyone know what the most affordable way to get from the Venice Marco Polo Airport to the Danieli and back is? Does the hotel offer any transportation? Thanks in advance.

You can take a vaporetto which is the equivalent of a bus and have to lug your luggage some way from the stop at Piazza di San Marco

or you can take a motoscarfi (taxi equivalent) from the airport directly to the hotel. Be advised that is is expensive.

From Marco Polo International Airport

Proceed to the Starwood Hotels Welcome Desk which is located in the airport arrivals lounge. Here guests can organize to take the Starwood Motor Launch directly to the hotel. The service is run in conjunction with major flight arrivals in Venice, however it is not guaranteed and cannot be reserved. Alternatively, guests may take a private water taxi to the hotel or private transfers with a hostess can also be organized. Please contact hotel for further details.

Yes, the hotel offers direct transportation as described above. There is a direct boat from VCE to San Marco, which is less. One can bus and then Vaperetto, which is least expensive.

and, the water taxi is most expensive.

Satish,

The Starwood hotels desk at the airport has its own transport that cost my parents and I somewhere between 62 and 89 euros. Let me check my bill and get back to you on that. I don't know if that is a flat charge or a charge per person, but we shared the boat with two other couples, one of which was going to the Danieli, and the other was going to the Gritti. We got dropped off first on a somewhat bumpy ride that takes a good half-hour or more.

Satish,

as of July, when I was there, the CIGA shuttle boat was about 90 euro for two. The direct boat to the city (no changing boats) was 9 euro. We did the later and walked the 2 or so blocks to the Danielli. Not a big deal, but a big savings for us. That being said, the CIGA boat is a very posh item and will impress if that is the intention.

A few weeks ago, we took the water taxi directly to the hotel for 80 Euro. Had a fair amount of luggage, and after arriving on the Delta JFK-VCE flight, we weren't interested in any hassles. Of course, the room wasn't ready when we arrived, but the taxi was pleasant and worth the $$.

Was this fare 80 for each person or 80 flat rate? Does this include gratuities?

In my case (3 people in party) the 80 Euros was for all three of us. It did not get itemized as a per person charge on our folio. This did not include gratutities which we handed to the boatman as he gave over our luggage to the Danieli bellhop.

Hello, I will also be staying at a Starwood property in Venice in a few months. We are arriving by train from Florence. How does one go about getting from the train station to the Westin Europa?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

There are two options basically. You can take the waterbus after buying a waterbus day pass or week pass or whatever you need which is priced per person and goes slowly around Venice and Venice Lido, etc, as long as you get on the right boat routes, which are numbered by routes. This is the cheapest way around, but also a headache with luggage if the waterbus is packed. The other option is a watertaxi right from the train station and onto your hotel. The price difference is like 40 euros, with the watertaxi costing between 60 and 85 euros. The waterbus day pass costs something between 11 and 24 euros per person (I cannot remember exactly), and there is a family or group discount if you are three people or more.

My water taxi ride from the station to the Regina & Europa in September was either 50 or 55 both ways.

The fare of 80 Euro was for the two of us. I do not know if it was expected, but I tipped the driver 10 Euro.

My parents said their water taxis seemed to be always flat rates, never a per person charge.

The official rates include additional charges for night service, holidays, each bag, over four people.

However, the official rate, Marco Polo to Centro Storico or viceversa is 44,93.

I have no idea how to get a rate close to the official rate.

My called night service(6am) taxi with luggage and wife from Danielli to VCE is usually 90 to 100.

From the Train Station to the Danielli as a walk on with plenty of luggage, and wife, 80 seems about normal, but I think the official rate is 40,80.

The official rates are posted in Ospite di Venezia.

It's impossible to get the official rates.

The tariff is eight or ten years old, and yet the water taxi drivers continue to oppose it being updated, so that they can continue to charge whatever price they dare:

"Tariff, what tariff? That hasn't been updated for years! You expect me to continue to run my taxi on those outdated prices?"

Honest.

You can

(1) take an airport circulating bus to the Alilaguna waterbus (seats likely), which drops you on the south side of Piazza San Marco, a 100-meter (and one bridge) walk to the Danieli (total cost, about EUR10/person)

(2) take the ACTV public bus to Piazzale Roma, walk 25 yards to the ACTV "vaporetto" (a different, smaller, waterbus with seats less likely) and get off directly opposite the Danieli (total cost, about EUR6/person), or

(3) take a water taxi, which is definitely fun, but expensive.
