So, my suggestion is that anyone in this position needs to be making the request from someone who can authorize it. Some suggestions have been made in that regard; however, I would not send anything to the Chairman & CEO's office. They will only forward it to someone at Starwood Preferred Guest anyway, which would delay your getting a response.
Sincerely,

Wow. What is Starwood thinking? Thats like my company saying that we won't sell software to someone because they bought a competitor's package (usually we are trying to win them over to buy ours as any business should do).</font>

Sounds a bit mad, Ted !
(quote from Dougal in "Father Ted" - not sure if you get this program in the US ?)
It appears that you don't have the ear of the right person yet, although it appears totally logical to me - Starwood win 50+ nights more business from this guy by being flexible on the Plat arrangement. Surely they can put a qualifier on this i.e. stay x number of nights in the coming 2 months to ensure you keep Plat ... ?
Sometimes we forget common sense in our efforts to follow rules rigidly to the letter - isn't it the easiest thing to do ?
