Keep in mind that you'd be obligated to be at your computer and working for approximately 8 hours a day. The biggest consideration, of course, would be time zone. You would want to be logged on and working during the same time as your colleagues in your home office, so working from somewhere halfway around the world could make this a challenge.

I'm thinking Hawaii. Work from 3am til about 11am. Surf for a few hours. Sleep. Repeat.

Home. I work remotely from home all the time. I spend more than half my time on the road. I've been to some of the more exotic places in the world. (I wrote a report on a laptop once while sitting on a concrete dock with the Congo River splashing on my legs.) It's good be home.

I live in Australia so hardly anything is in my time zone.... I'm going to go elsewhere and work at whatever time I need to fit in with my Australian colleagues. I think I'd go to the sunny Caribbean, via Ethihad's The Residence and hole up in a huge penthouse villa with my own pool.

I will be in Jordan for a month working. I due this quite often so it is nothing new to me. If I could go anywhere it would be Hong Kong. Been wanting to go there for years.

Paris, but only from October - early March. Yes I know it's very cliche, but I LOVE it.

Second choice... really anywhere in Europe. I work in emerging markets quite a bit and I love it when I can eat fresh veggies and not have to brush my teeth with bottled water.

Third choice.. Tokyo. I would make it my first choice except I really hate the food other than the sushi. (sorry there is only so much slime that I can handle)

This is timely. I have a job with a client to write them a number of draft project and governance documents. I have done most of the fieldwork and have two weeks to complete the first drafts. As the only contact will be the odd call or Skype, I can really go anywhere, so I've booked a great little guesthouse in the Western Cape.

I did a similar thing a couple of years ago and spent a fortnight in Oman - loved it.

The Oman trip led to an article that was published in an airline magazine, paying a pittance, but it meant I could claim all the costs as expenses!

I worked while I travelled for several years (during which we lived out of hotels or short term apartments). One desk is like any other. I had a workspace in the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Oman... it's all the same. Having said that I liked Oman and Mauritius.

My choice would be Antigua, Guatemala at the Casa Florencia Hotel. Along with being in a city with an 'eternal spring' as the temps year round average about 68 degrees, the Guatemalan owner is really beautiful. It's a shame she removed her picture from her web site.

If I have to be working as usual then I may as well be teleworking from my house. Nearly any time I've traveled for work to "desirable" locations for meetings, site visits, etc. there ends up being little to no time (and/or energy) for enjoying the locale once work is done each day. There have been a few exceptions but even those left much to be desired compared to actually being on vacation there.

I once had a job in Fairbanks in June. I'd work all day and hike all night. That'd be nice.

I've tried this before and it didn't work for me. The problem with working from paradise is that paradise is a major distraction when new and/or temporary. Even though I made a virtual appearance at work for 8 hours a day my productivity suffered noticeably.

I learned that I enjoy the separation of work and vacation.
