12 hours in FRA

I have 12 hours between flights in Frankfurt coming and would like
to do a couple of things:
* get in a workout
* stop at a beer hall
I realize the two offset each other somewhat
I'll be lugging my carryon (unless there are lockers at FRA I can use)
It would be helpful if both were close to a U-bahn or S-bahn stop...the same stop would be nice..
Thanks in advance.

You can leave your carry-on at the airport.

I would get in a taxi, and the the driver to go to the following address:

Fitness Company Zeil II
Zeil 72-82
60313 Frankfurt am Main
Tel: +49-69-1 33 87 60

it should take you about 15-25min to get there, depending on traffic.
Otherwise take a S-Bahn to Konstablerwache, go upstairs to street-level and you are on the Zeil, the gym is on the left when you face up the Zeil.

It's a modern club with a pool on a great street for some shopping if you have time. Should cost about EUR25 for a day-pass.

Beerhalls are not really a Frankfurt thing. You will need to go to MUC for that.

Maybe not beerhalls but we have lots of Ebbelwoi-Kneipen instead.

I would skip the cab and take the S-Bahn. Taking a taxi is very expensive and you are probably much faster with the train anyway.

12 hours in FRA should be enough to do both. Do the FC first (I think there are actually two FCs on the Zeil), then head to Sachsenhausen to relax. It's just a few stops from Konstablerwache.

The tourist board site at http://tcf.frankfurt.de/ may afford some ideas.

Wagner in Sachsenhausen

the place to go - on the main drag, all the taxi drivers know where it is.

Just in case it isn't clear to OP, ebbelwoi is Frankfurt dialect for apfelwein (apple wine) - a drink made by pressing apples and letting the juice ferment slowly. Quick refreshing though sme compare it to drinking vinegar.

There is a "left luggage" counter in the arrivals level; the fee is reasonable (circa 3 Euro per bag, forget the exact amount).
Rather than going into Frankfurt I would take the S-bahn the other direction and go to Wiesbaden -- a really charming town on the Rhine which is a tourist resort. Much better food, shopping, etc. than Frankfurt and eminently walkable. Plus famous for its baths. Second choice is Mainz (on the other side of the Rhine) which is less upscale but equally charming (and maybe better for beer, there is an outstanding micro-brewery in Mainz that is famous even in Germany).

For a real workout at FRA what you can do is this:

i) Walk from international depatures to domestic departures (approx 1 hour when I did NUE-FRA-MAN) with your carry on luggage
ii) Walk back
iii) Repeate steps i and ii a couple of times
iv) Then go to the beer hall - you'll have earned it
